Hi, Thankyou for trying to help. The images I have are Canon RAW CR2 files taken with MagicLantern Dual ISO invoked not video files so maybe that is my problem as I only shoot stills no video. Thankyou again.

Hi, Sorry but I am still struggling with this, I have follwed the instructions and the app opens but when I try to Transcode/Import I get error message 'Could not open file: C:/users/name/Desktop/IMG_2138.MLV. I have tried both the 32bit and 64bit MLVApp, in the 32bit I do not even get the option to Transcode/Import as I do in the 64bit under the File menu. Below is what I have downloaded and shows same content on both downloads. I asssume the app will open RAW CR2 files?

OK many thanks to all. I assume that the MLVApp is only for video and not still photography?

Hi, well I don't no where I am going wrong on this but I use the same EOS M (not converted) loaded the scripts onto the card ( tried twice) but I cannot get any of the information that is shown here http://photography.grayheron.net/2019/05/multi-image-deep-focus-photography.html
Camera in Manual Exposure mode, Manual  Focus, take three images at differant focus points but don't get any Red,Green or Yellow. I have Bracketeer and Get Focus Brackets loaded. Am I missing another componant please? Thankyou, Russ.

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum or not. If not, please move to the right place!

So.. I was using my Canon EOS 50D for shooting photos for 4 years now, with Magic Lantern.
2 Weeks ago, my camera was stuck on a Error which is expensive to repair, so I bought another used 50D from a photo store for 150€. The camera looks nearly new and shutter count is only 10.000.

I have 2 problems with this 50D, and I'm not sure if the problem is the 50D itself, or just a setting problem, or maybe because this 50D does not have Magic Lantern.
My old 50D had Magic Lantern and it was perfect, the "new" (but used) 50D does not have Magic Lantern installed.

So here are my 2 problems.

Problem 1 (and this is the big problem):
90% of the time, the LiveView shows exactly what the photo will be looking like.
But in 10% of the time, the LiveView shoes a much much different lightning.
For example:
I use the LiveView to set my brightness (aperture, exposure time, ISO), then I switch to Viewfinder, make some photos using Viewfinder, and look at the photos if everything is right.
In 10% of the time, I see a super bright view in the LiveView, but the photo is very very dark.
I have set all settings to the same as my old 50D, so I can not explain it to myself, why this happens.
Does anybody has a idea?!
Does Magic Lantern has something to do with a better LiveView?! But I also have one of these cheap 1200D (a very basic Canon DSLR), and even this camera always shoes the exact image in LiveView, and it also does not have Magic Lantern installed.

Problem 2:
Sometime I try to make a photo, but the shutter does not make the photo. It doesn't even focus.
First, I thought it's a focus problem.
But know I have the idea, that maybe just the shutter button doesn't work as easy as my old one and maybe I need try to press it harder.
I definitely need to test this first.
But my question is, does Magic Lantern has a function that let the camera focus better?

Sorry that my english is not the best, I'm from Germany.

I'm very thankful for every help!
Appreciate every tip.

Thanks!

EVZML
It sounds as like Garry23 has said except for the shutter button not focusing that the camera has already been set up for back button focus and that is why the shutter button will not focus first then take an image. Russ.

you can see histogram for RGB channels also without ML, in canon preview only.
Using INFO button to change what is shown when in play mode on 600D (others models may use differen names like DISP for the button)
Hi yes I no how to view the RGB channels after the image has been taken (beleive this is what you are refering to?) but if you watch the video he can view Clipping Highlight warning on each individual RGB channel rather than just on the overall brightness of an image. Thankyou, Russ.

Hi, Just watched video on YT that shows how to see the individual channels RGB that may be clipped on a still image in camera  (after the image has been taken), Was only shown on a Nikon camera. I no you can see RGB in still photography with ML in live view but is there a way to see clipping after the event on a Canon camera? Look at around the 8 minute mark if you don't want to watch the whole video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQjDDM4WSIo. Thankyou for any advice. Russ.

Hi, Exposure Lock only locks the exposure that is registered at the time so if you take the exposre from an evenly lit scene when you then have to move to taking an image of a BIF the bird is against a lighter background so comes out dark, in AV or TV mode you can tell the camera to expose over what it thinks is the correct exposure but keep the same shutter, ISO and Apeture if this could be done in M mode without altering any of those options that is what I am asking. Thankyou, Russ.
#16
Hi, No will look into that thankyou.
#17
Hi, On some of the up market cameras like the Canon 1DX ii  and I beleive the 7D Mkii you are able to use exposure compensation in manual mode and yes I no the question 'WHY would you want to use exposure compensation in manual mode?' simple, for example when photographng BIF somtimes that extra 1/3rd to even 2 stops of compensation can make a good image so is this a possible option via M/L for the lower end Canon cameras (in my case the 70D) Thankyou, Russ.

Thankyou.

Thankyou,

Hi, Is it possible with M/L to have in PHOTO  (not video)  Exposure Compensation in 'M' mode on a 70D or 6D with Auto ISO selected as you can set on the more recent cameras from Canon like the  7Dii or more recent pro cameras. Many Thanks, Russ

My only helpful thought is: why would you wish to do post processing in a camera?

Best to focus on capturing the 'best' data you can, ie bracketing, and then use Enfuse in, say, Lightroom, eg the LR/Enfuse plugin.
Hi, Garry, I do process my images in computer just that as I understand it M/L does an in camera image to give a quick view of what has been captured in the field but maybe I mis-understand it? Thanks, Russ
#23
Wow!! 4 days and no one can give an answer. Thank a lot. Russ.
#24
Hi, After taking 3 X images the camera shows Enfuse Jpeg but where is it stored on camera or is it not? Thankyou. Russ
#25
Hi, Maybe I am wrong here but as far as I understand it you cannot use M/L along with an external monitor you have to use the back of the camera. There are other options 'QDSLR Dashboard' or 'DSLR Controller' both have many options for Still and video via an external monitor. Russ
