Here is a short film of mine containing timelapses, including city lights, shot with Magic Lantern in this way:

Thankyou, Watched it and very good. I assume that you do not use the intervalometer for the stills side of shooting? Thanks, Russ.

General Chat / Shooting City Lights?
January 13, 2018, 09:24:56 AM
Hi, Looking for some information as to how to shoot still images  in the City/Town at night useing M/L as an aid to do so, not new to M/L but never tried the night time shooting before. Thankyou for any advice. Russ

Do I have to copy the files for ML installation to 'Every' CF Card that I will use with the camera? Yes if want to use ML ALL the time NO if on occassion you don't need it.

Ok just my 5 cents worth. Rather than a book it would IMO be great if there was an option to upload short video tutorials here by those who wish to help others both in Video and still photography.

Hi, having a little trouble trying to get the RGB Histogram to show on the 70D to allow the clip point in live view. Works fine on the 6D.
Any help please?
Thankyou.
Russ

OK sorted seems will not work when Wi-Fi is enabled. Russ.

Anyone else having issues with Advanced bracketing?
My setup:
EOS-M with the latest nightly (magiclantern-Nightly.2017Sep15.EOSM202)

Manual mode, manual lens, 6exp 3ev from 1/4000.

Most of the times I get the expected exposure range:
1/4000
1/500
1/60
1/8
1"
8"

But not always.
Sometimes I'll even get more than 6 shot.
If I use Audio remoteshot (audio gain set to manual), I never get the expected range, just a bunch of random exposure values that changes every time:
1/4000
1/4000
1/500
1/500
1/500
128"

Or
1/4000
1/500
1/60
1/8
1/4000
1/4000

Or
1/30
1/4
1/30
1/30
127"
10"

Seems like a bug in the Advanced bracketing module, and using Audio remoteshot makes it worse.
Would someone please try it out, using at least 5 exposures?
Thanks!
I did reply to this in the other posting on the same subject by the same OP in the GH Q/A section but if it helps here.
Did a quick test also with the 'M' and got in first 6 images at 3 stops. 320,320,40,40,40 and 40 second try I got 320,2500,40,40,1.6 and 1.6

General Help Q&A / Re: Magic Lantern with EOS Utility

Hi, This will not help the problem with useing ML and Canon EOSU but if you want near the same options as ML offers via a computer have a look at QDSLDashboard for Windows https://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/

Hi, still await arrival of the camera so when in live view and you bring up the ML menu does the screen flicker as it does on the 6D and 70D and does this ML version on this camera have rack focus, focus stacking options please? Many thanks, sorry for the simple questions but as I don't have the camera I have to ask. Russ

Hi, Firstly I hold my hands up, have not read through 50 plus pages of this EOS M part of the site but if someone would like to comment?
I don't even have the camera as yet, bought second hand to dip my feet in the water of mirrorless. I do use M/L on my DSLR's 6D/70D, have done so for many years now and I only shoot stills not video so for those who shoot stills what are the top three advantages of M/L with the EOS M to date?
Thankyou in advance for any input.
Russ.

No wondewr that sometimes Walter Schulz looks to completly p...ed off in his replies.
I put up where to get  both the firmware 1.1.6 and the M/L firmware and the OP goes to a completely other site to download it!!!!!
If you break your camera please don't come here and moan about it!!!

Do you know where can I find the original 1.1.6 to download?
1.1.6 same page as the M/L download under Older Builds

I was in download page at magic lantern website and i saw that the last version of ML for Canon 6D is 1.1.6.
However, my cam has a newer version (1.1.7) already installed.

I´d like to know if i need to wait a ML update for my cam version. I won´t to roll back for 1.1.6.

If i install the current ML on my 6d, will this roll back for 1.1.6 automacally?

Does anyone can help?
You need to have 1.1.6 to install M/L on a 6D. Do not worry about reverse the Canon firmware to 1.1.6 from 1.1.7 if you don't like M/L you can always go back. I have done it when I installed M/L. Hope this helps.

Not 100% but think you transfer images from DPP4 to Photoshop or software of choice.

General Help Q&A / Canon 70D Wireless Mode
August 01, 2017, 05:30:18 PM
Hi, When/If I turn on the wireless option in camera to be able to send images to my tablet (larger screen to view) the ML RAW Histogram disappears from the cameras LCD screen. Is this correct please? Thankyou.
#43
I have a nexus 7" tablet and at this time it is stuck to the back of a cardboard box lid that was just the right size and works to a point but just sent for a sunshade to give it a go. At  £2.25 not a lot to loose :) Ebay can be your friend but not to often!!!

Have been looking over the net for information/ideas on Still Photography using ML and amazing how many people with not a lot of knowledge about ML seem to give out negative advice on forums to questions and others who ask "Will it brick/damage my camera" expecting others to test it out on there camera/s and report back.

Shame really as ML is a great piece of kit.

Why would you want to take 15 images for an HDR image? 5 Images 1 stop apart should cover most situations or let M/L decide how many are needed for a scene.

Russ

I'll try one my time ;-)

If you are on the ML forum I'm guessing you are interested in taking your very powerful camera to the next level. That is beyond using it in Auto or P mode.

Assuming this is right, I would encourage you to read a little into the basics of photography, eg depth of field, diffraction and exposure Evs etc etc.

DoF is all based around understanding blur, ie on the sensor and in the real world.

If you don't do this, I fear you will keep stumbling through the 'ML stuff'.

If you are struggling with these 'basics', then maybe ML is not for you.

I say the above in the spirit of helping you: not as an insult ;-)

Cheers

Garry
Garry I take no insult from any advice, at my age I don't have the time :D I am a manual mode user and do understand  the basics of photography, eg depth of field,  and exposure Evs etc etc but some of the more tech stuff that comes around just does not stick in an old brain. :D ML. for a Canon still image photographer offers a great deal extra that I use and that should already be as standard from Canon. Thankyou for trying to help. Russ
PS, update 28/July/17. Think after some steps forward and a couple back I have the basis of how your script works and a couple test show focus back to front however when I take an image I am getting a warning on the screen 'RAW error- Falling back to YUV overlays" the image looks OK after capture though. (OK found the topic on RAW error)Thanks, Russ

Hi Gary, Looked at your site when I asked http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=20083.msg187283#msg187283
Did try your Focus Bar script  and afraid  I just could not grasp it.
Thank you for the reply yet again.
