OK, So should you use   the Simple or the Diffraction aware options?
#52
Hi, Diffraction concerns the amount of light in photography terms hitting the lens/sensor. "As
you stop down the aperture on a lens the light passing through tends to diffract,
reducing sharpness, though DOF is increased. The reason for this is that the
edges of the diaphragm blades in the lens tend to disperse the light. At larger
apertures this diffracted light is only a small percentage of the total amount
of light hitting the sensor, but as the aperture is stopped down the
amount of diffracted light becomes a larger percentage of the total amount of
light being recorded."
And yes I have a good idea about the COC but like most photographers do not understand the maths of it as COC but do as DOF.

Hi, Can someone please explain the differance in simple terms between the Simple and the Diffraction aware options? Have looked at the Userguide and all that I can see is  DOF near and DOF far and that I understand, there is also a link
'See also Focus distance' that sends you to 'This topic does not exist yet

You've followed a link to a topic that doesn't exist yet.'
Thankyou.

Hi, Garry. Looked at your site and the Focus Bar script along with others and afraid that is way over my head, not tech minded and really do not even no how to envoke a script never mind use one. Find the written word hard to follow in that context but show me once and I get it first time.
Anyway thankyou for the help.

Thankyou for the replies.
garry23, mostly would use for landscape, where I live (Greece) the differance from sky to shaddow is very extreme most of the time even in the winter months we have strong sunshine so EV is sometimes 3 or 4 differance, I veered away from the HDR way of doing thing a while ago so the DUAL ISO seemed a good way to go, one image via Lightroom/cr2hdr/adjust sliders if required and DONE!!
Again thankyou for the replies.

Hi, I understand about ETTR when it comes to exposure but I use a hand held meter and shoot in Manual mode 99.9% of the time. I also have my meter calibrated to the Camera/s I use 6D/70D so when taking an image outside I am at the tip of the highlight zone without clipping for the camera/s DR.
When using the Dual ISO in this senario I assume that the ETTR available in ML is better left off?
Many Thanks.

Hi, Biggest problem I have is actually seeing the tablet screen, I live where the sky is in summer time mostly blue with sunlight. Found a good way to see the camera back screen (see image) but looking round seems you have to pay for a decent monitor hood a lot of $'s - £'s.

Modules Development / Re: DotTune AFMA (dot_tune.mo)
October 16, 2016, 08:54:39 AM
Hi, Tried again, the D/T works on the 6D but the screen is blanked out until finished then comes up to show the adjustment also the adjustment shows in the camera so as not a whiz on this I assume the calibration has been done correctly. Thanks. Russ

Modules Development / Re: DotTune AFMA (dot_tune.mo)

Hi, Just tried Dot Tune with my 6D after watching available videos.
When I start the operation the screen on my 6D goes black the SD card shows activity via the red light flickering and then I get with some lenses a result others not so but my question is "should I be seeing the the active screen working" IE shows the passes 1 to 4 or is the blank screen now the way it goes? Thank You.

If you want to clear M/L and the boot flag from the camera just put the M/L files on a card and go as to install M/L but at the bootom of the screen it should state 'If you want M/L un-installed wait 50 secs" so just let it run without turning off the camera when it's finished turn off camera and back on to format the card via Canon menu.

General Help Q&A / 6D live view & M/L menu?
July 30, 2016, 05:36:16 PM
Hi, Have been a user of M/L for some time on a 600D but now I have a 6D and a small problem.
When in live view if I go to the M/L menu the screen keeps flicking back and forth ie M/L Menu/Live View/M/L menu/Live View etc so I thought maybe a problem with the card so tried another and same result so un-installed M/L including boot flag and camera live view works as it should. re-installed M/L and back to flicking back and forth in live view.
Camera works fine but when trying to compose in L/V becomes annoying.
Thanks

Hi, again many thanks for the replies.
On the focus side of things even if the camera has been calibrated to adjust with the IR filter do you still need to write or adjust the ML script for coc?
Thanks

Hi, bit of a novice question.
When you export the DISO from Lightroom to the cr2hdr for me the only way I can find the converted file is within ALL Photographs and not the recent import folder in Lightroom where the original DISO files are located.
Any help please?
Many Thanks

Thank You.
I assumed if you came out of the ML menu the settings would be lost.
