Hi Alex,

Thanks for tip. I recreated the error and the assert log reappears but the image quality stayed the same (i.e RAW + jpeg) so must have messed up myself (damnit!). Here is the first assert log I got (see image attached)

And here's the second one with extra 404 warnings for some reason

Weird one. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your time.

a1ex

It's probably harmless, though need to double-check to be 100% sure. I've disabled that warning in the experimental crop_rec_4k builds, as I was getting it every now and then; didn't notice anything weird so far.

If you find a way to reproduce the error consistently, that would help.

stevedraw

Cool, cheers.

Been trying to get error and can't get it again, which is a good thing I guess! If I do get it again and can recreate consistently I'll post back. Thanks again for the help. The assert log files won't affect the card will they either? I noticed I can't just delete them off card. Will probably do a format after I copy all the shots onto ex hd.

IBIRRU

Dear all,
again many thanks to all development team, you are great people.

I want to experiment:
1) the new crop_rec module developed by Alex
and
2) also the Danne sd_uhs module at the same time

is it possible?

For point 1 : I need just to substitute the crop_rec module from experimental section (Latest Build (2018-07-22 13:09)) using the one that @theBilalFakhouri linked here  ?https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZXcqPUu-d6i1vpR8j869e7ghVqovjkg8

For point 2 I don't know

anyone could help me?

Thanks

Hello @IBIRRU

Here are the two modules you want:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nHCDKJh9Hxq9mM3XMmQAL8MDzc43Cj-x

crop_rec only for 700D for now and sd_uhs for all D5 Cams. Put them under crop_rec_4k build from experimental section and replace old crop_rec with the one in the link in ML/modules folder.

IBIRRU

@TheBilalFakhouri

Thanks a lot, I will post my findings
Cheers

@theBilalFakhouri  :)

i'm sorry but seem to be  a problem with new crop-rec module

:(

The normal crop_rec.mo module from magiclantern-crop_rec_4k.2018Jul22.700D115 experimental, works without problem.
I started with a formatted card.

Could you help me to solve?

Thanks

@IBIRRU

Okay my bad. I compiled a build from crop_rec_4k branch and in the experimental page it's from crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd and it has some differences so Try this Build which I use. :D

Hi and congrats on the great advancements. Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem as IBIRRU and the build above produces the same errors as the July 22nd build I previously tried it on. It's probably something very simple we're missing, but I can't figure out what. Any help would be much appreciated.

theBilalFakhouri

@mvrck

Make clean install using build here then replace mlv_snd and crop_rec and put them (also sd_uhs) in ML/modules folder. Enable crop_rec and mlv_lite only for now in the camera make a restart then try it!

@IBIRRU

Also replace mlv_snd here is all files in Google Drive: Download. If you want the automatic script for overclocking SD card download it from same link (SDoverclock.lua) and put it in ML/scripts folder.

Feedback please.

EDIT: Also replace mlv_lite :P same link sorry for this.

mvrck

@ theBilalFakhouri I think it was the mlv_lite module that made the difference. The error disappeared even without this new version of mlv_lite, when only crop_rec and mlv_lite were enabled. Enabling anything else produced the same error. Anyway, I followed your advice, did all the things and now it works. LiveView is pretty much unusable, but it works! I'll be playing with settings, resolutions, etc. When I have something, I post a video. Thanks a lot for the help. Newbies like me really need it. :)

IBIRRU

@ThebilalFakhouri
thanks

I downloaded all file following your instructions.

It runs without error.
Next days I will try to use and play with it  :)

Feedback please.

could not use in practice, the resolution are changing chaotically. most often the recording is done with the settings from the mlv_lite module

theBilalFakhouri

@koljanych

You don't have to enter x5 mode or using FPS override. You can select a preset from Canon menu 1080p24, 1080p25 or 1080p30 If you want lower than that FPS you can select in crop_rec submenu Half or Quarter FPS in the current mode.

Just select 1x3 in Pixel binning and change Y resolution to 2214 then and very important press MENU button in the camera then get back to LiveView. You should press MENU button after making a change in crop_rec to refresh LiveView with new settings.

theBilalFakhouri

Here is all registers have been changed between mv1080 and mv720 in 700D I can see half of them in adtg_gui using "modified from now on" I couldn't use them as preset in old crop_rec method is there something to do ? I got the registers using io_trace_full branch. I am guessing the missing registers is here to get correct LiveView in mv1080 in EOS M or using 3x3 in mv720 in other cameras or even also getting normal LiveView in 1x3 mode.

Some of the registers was missing in mv1080 and also in mv720 showing only in mv720 or mv1080.

Why adtg_gui doesn't catch them ?

Which ones are not displayed in adtg_gui?

They may be hidden by various filters, for example EDMAC registers and those changing "too often" are not displayed.

Quoteis there something to do?

Yes, no easy answer. I'm thinking to show the entire sequence for one LiveView frame (maybe also with some debug messages, so you know where the registers come from), but syncing is hard, given that some registers are set in one mode and not in another, they may be set in possibly different order, some registers may be set every few frames, some are set in response to external events (and timing may not be always the same for every frame) and so on.

Parsing these huge logs to display them in a nicer way may be an easier task, as all the info is there.

In io_trace_full branch the registers was about 1800 registers but I deleted the unchanged ones between mv1080 and mv720 and kept the changed registers (about 96 registers). Now I knew the missing registers between mv1080 and mv720 in io_trace_full the value was 0x0 in mv1080 (as you can see in adtg_gui using crop_rec_4k build) so it wasn't showed in mv1080 and it was missing.

P.S. mind uploading your logs? Mine are a bit incomplete. I'm looking for io_trace_full logs showing every single video mode, including initialization (such as entering from photo mode).

With io_trace backend I can see 10 more registers:
c0f3a100
c0f3a2e0
c0f3a460
c0f3a464
c0f3a468
c0f140d0
c0f140d4
c0f3a04c
c0f3a0a0
c0f3a0b0

I have tested it before the LiveView still stuck.

I did a mistake the following registers stayed the same values in both mv720 and mv1080: (I forgot to delete them in logs)
c0f389bc: 10101221
c0f389c0:   96004c

I get that the 700D is skipping, not binning; but I've noticed there's less aliasing on the 5D Mk3 in 1x1 with dual ISO than with 3x3. The problem with 1x1 (besides the rolling shutter) is more visible noise. I'm wondering how 1x3 has reduced the noise so much, and would it apply to the 5D Mk3 too? I'm up for testing a test build.

Some clarifying things:

https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19300.msg206133#msg206133

In the above info it's look like now when using Dual ISO 100/800 in 1x3 then stretched down to the correct aspect it's like using Dual ISO 50/400 so I guess here the noise has been killed.
In 1x1 there is no sampling for the noise it's more visible naturally.

Of course it can be applied in any DIGIC 5 cameras like 5D3 maybe in D4 also but it will take some time to be finished (the new crop_rec).

Hi, to all here on the forums :)  Just installed ML in the the 700D and everything seems fine except one thing. There is a lot of artifacts on the raw video. And I mean a lot... Noise and black and green dots ramndomize on all the frames, Is that normal? Any advice on improving the video on RAW?

IDA_ML

Just expose to the right (ETTR) to get maximum signal to noise ratio!  Then everything will be fine.

Hello
These called Focus pixels. Try MLVApp it will fix these dots automatically. What software you are using for converting MLV ?
