I think720p clean outs is perfectly good for internet streaming.  Some folks might want to cover and event or shoot an internet series with their 70D, and its quite suitable for that.  However you should really have EOS utility or DSLR controller on the usb, as you want to be able to pull focus through the mouse/screen.  This makes up for a blanked LCD (sheesh what a poor design to blank the LCD IMHO).
This is true, I had not considered that usage, however for using the camera in an internet streaming role, I've instead just used this software and the USB connection without the need for ML and providing full control (Nikon or Canon):

This seems like a better option all around as long as you can run a Windows environment, unless you want you use a wireless HDMI live broadcast system (usually well north of $2,000), but then I question why you are using the 70D and not at least moving up to a camera that has clean HDMI out.

@TechnoPilot: You're addressing the wrong person. It's up to dmilligan to create a pull request in main repository. IMO, of course.

dmilligan

The idea behind modules is that they are camera independent and can be distributed separately. There's no real reason advanced intervalometer needs to be configured into the main repo. It's easier if I just maintain it myself. You can find the download link is in the first post: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8431.0

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with 70D, but you never know until you try it.

Awesome, thanks for the link and explanation @dmilligan, I've downloaded the module and will try it out in the 2B beta!  Sorry for my newbieness on how modules work!

As expected the adv_int module works flawlessly for all of my cameras including 70D, Thanks @dmilligan for maintaining it and better yet for keeping it online as an option for us to use. [emoji106]

Any idea if we are far away from headphone monitoring feature (using the a/v out to monitor audio on your headphones with the canon cable while video rec) and working fps override for the 70D?

@ kriso - i believe the answer is back in the thread if you read through it.  iirc the answer at least for the audio part is it's probably not going to happen for any of the digic 5 cameras.

@aedipuss - That's not entirely true...  Although it appears that is the case for headphone monitoring, that is not the case for fps override.

@kris - Last I remember, nikfreak thought a1ex had an idea that may fix the fps override issues.

On the headphone monitoring: I use canon factory made cable  (a/v out to cinch) + 3.5 mm adapter to plug the headphones. Im only getting loud noise in my ears and the LCD screen turns immediately black after I plug the cable into the dslr. It dosen't matter modes. Just the noise seems to change a bit every time I press any of buttons.

@kriso --
The screen is going to go blank because you are plugging into an "Audio / Video" jack, so it switches off the built-in screen.

The headphones are not as easy as you are trying to make it.  That jack has a mono line-level output for audio.  First problem is that your impedance is going to be way off by trying to plug directly into headphones.  Secondly, if you are not using an adapter made specifically for this purposes, you are shorting two of the contacts together that shouldn't be.  Thirdly, there is no proper amplification to drive the headphones inductor.

You should be very careful, as stated you are potentially shorting out connections.  The 70D ML firmware is not setup to allow headphone monitoring, it is something that I've been told might just not be possible with the Digic 5 processor.  Also I will point out that the cable to allow headphone monitoring on the cameras that have this hack in ML, still use a specially modified Canon cable to allow it to work and make the proper connections.  Just my two cents of advice.

Im aware that there is no Headphone monitoring on 70D yet. Did what I did out of ignorance and curiosity...
This is the video tutorial I've watched first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnEtj5l3acs
In the begining of it the host lists the camera models which work in this fashion and the 70D is NOT included. But I have 60D, should I try this with it?

@ kriso - the ml audio functions such as headphone monitoring work fine on my 60d with ml installed.

Great news, unfortunately I've loaded (for the 1st time in my lif :)  ) ML with older version yesterday a moment before update of the first post:). I must update it with the newest version today.

Right now I'm testing it and one time I "bricked" my 70D but I think that this was a problem with flat battery (last time I remember it has about 15%). I was removing it, removing card, nothing was happening (only red led was blinking). When I've placed new, fresh accu everything started to rise and shine.

Merry Christmas!

MaLiBoO

@nikfreak sorry to ask, but could you please explain what is made in this build? what you mean with "build synched with main tree"?

Thank you!

starbase64

@MaLiBoO

Changelog is in 1st Post

@nikfreak

no problems here with DEZ22 build

MaLiBoO

@starbase64 - I know that, but as you can see, it says the same

22th Dec: Beta-3
•synched with main tree (a1ex merged some PR's into unified)
•Check source for details

So, again sorry for my short knowledge, but I have no idea what was implemented.

@maliboo - if you followed the instructions in the changelog you would find what had changed in the source file - https://bitbucket.org/nikfreak/magic-lantern/commits/branch/70D-merge

Thanks for the update, have been using beta 2 for a few weeks and really like it! Steep learning curve with all the quirks but overall awesome!

One newbie question is, when I goto the help section, it says I am missing the help files/documentation. I have search around and cannot see any extra files I can put on the SD to have help available??

cheers!

Hey Everyone, hope someone knows about this issue already and want's to help me.

I've been working with the Magic Lantern beta for the Canon 70D for months.  Today my camera froze out of nowhere while I was checking up some settings to record some video (RAW recording was inactive).

After that, I turned it off and the screen was still showing on, frozen.

I removed the battery and that turned the camera off. Now it's totally dead. It won't turn back on, the LED light doesn't activate when I change batteries or cards. I've tried everything, even some youtube video solutions but nothing is helping me.

Do you know what could this be? Any help?

Sincerely,
Dussán
