My BG is a clone but i guess every one of them is pretty much the same.
If i start the camera with the batteries inside but with the door open everything is fine.
Then, when you close the door, the switch triggers and you lose power for the amount of time the spring takes to come back into place.
This contact can probably be faked, i don't know, it would be a nice feature for hardcore movie users.

That means controlling the flash manually, which i think isn't possible.
Preflash isn't just a way to annoy people but the way the camera knows how much light there is when flashing.
Manual on camera flash would surely be cool but impossible, as far as i understood.

Sama as title, I can't figure out how to ser the Focus Distance and my 550D display this in the Focus menu of ML. I don't know whether the lens have problems or it is because of ML. Can anyone help?
But anyway it won't be of much use since just a few distances are set into the lens' CPU.

How can 1920x1080 ever be in 4:3?

I like this style very much, Arthur.
The current layout isn't bad but this is a bit more catchy :)

Here i am as well, from the hot and nasty south.
Pensate, ho comprato la 50D, un anno fà, con l'idea che qualcuno avrebbe sviluppato ML per la stessa.
Tadaaaaan.

While you're here, do you use an external mic along with the 50D?
Since very few of us do and you seem to understand a bit about the code, can i ask you how much exactly the delay is?
It would help in case of syncing with a mic.

I second the opinion that ML shouldn't look too similar to Canon menu.
But, it wouldn't be bad if it had its own personal look.
I like your suggestions, Arthur, now let's see what are the other opinions about them.

Flashlight or white screen, can't imagine their use.
MLU is good, it should be a good habit when shooting on tripod.

I can't see any difference and many tests have proven the same.

I noticed that SET button doesn't work if you have the setting shortcut onscreen.
That's one thing preventing the stopping of the recording.

I suggested this feature via email but i think it'll be nice to have for the older cameras that do not allow multiple points selection.
The feature is already in ML but you have to have particular settings to make it works and not everybody uses them.
It would be convenient to have the patterns as bmp on the card so you can see what you're selecting in the relative menu.
AF points pattern are already done (i saw them on the wikia) and it'll need to pair the visual hint to the actual selection.

You already can, no ML required, only a little understanding of photographic exposure.

Set camera to spot metering, choose 2 out of 3 variables (set ISO and shutter in Tv or ISO and aperture in Av) aim the center AF point at your subject and half-press the shutter button to see what the third value is (aperture in Tv and shutter speed in Av). After figuring out the correct exposure for that combination, you can adjust using reciprocals. If you adjust the aperture down a stop (changing from f/5.6 to f/4) than you go up a stop in shutter or ISO (1/125s to 1/250s or ISO 200 to ISO 400), for example.

The only real missing functionality is a flash lightmeter. I don't believe that the metering system built into any camera is capable or designed to be able to meter something with such a short duration, triggered by that short duration change in exposure. Let's say at the long end (based on sync speed) flash duration is 1/200s. So the camera must within 1ms or so detect a flash and then record exposure metering over the remaining duration. Not exactly sure how the electronics in flash maters are designed but it certainly requires a different metering system than cameras use. That would be nice, though.

+1.
About being a flash meter, i always do trial and error even if my Sigma flash is E-TTL compatible. Still, i find manual flash exposure to be much more consistent and it's not a big waste of time to take a test shot of the scene and check the histogram.
