Help menu is all you need, have you ever noticed it?

There is the user manual for a reason.
#703
Flash button would be nice as a switch. Nice suggestion.

General Help Q&A / Re: Dead pixel...?!

You must wait 5 seconds between the opening of the card door and the removal of the card itself.
That should solve the issue with the draining.
As for the pixels, every camera can have this kind of problem, just google it.

Check your focus with LV in 10x, don't just set both lenses to infinity as it may differ even slightly from lens to lens.

EOS M :)
+1.
Although i wanted Canon to make it a bit better since mirrorless cameras are available since quite a bit now.
This would be the first ML camera to accept virtually any lens made.

They should not be a concern because they're not caused by ML but they are present in a sensor anyway.
You can't expect to have 18.000.000 working pixels/18.000.000. Chances are you will find dead or just hot pixels from time to time and the best way to try and solve this issue is the sensor cleaning method suggested by Malcolm. It's not mocking around but since it is a common problem of photography in general it was a bit strange to me that someone has never noticed them.
Raw converters already map them out and alter them by looking at the surrounding pixels. So, it's not something bad, don't be concerned.

Very concerned about ONE red pixel?
Seriously?

Yes, we can use PTP to remote control our beloved EOS cameras :)
Without any external screen?
#710
Yeah, i bought one of those cheap chinese lcd viewfinders and not only it is very good for the money (13 euros) but also it helps stabilizing the camera.
#711
I saw this neat piece of hardware being sold for a bunch of euros on the internet and it looks like it can do lots of things thanks to its small size and power consumption.
Do you guys have it? What do you use it for? Can it operate with our Eos cameras somehow without plugging it to a computer?

The timing is realistic, a user really tried that, it's on bitbucket.
Facepalm :D

General Chat / Re: Looking for defective cameras

I second the request to see pictures of the internal components of any ML camera.
Reaching the board is rather easy for anybody who has patience and a bit of handcrafting. Just make sure not to twist or bend any wire as there are some very thin and prone to breaking (my 50D forgets date and time if i leave it without the MAIN battery for more than 5 seconds, i broke the button battery wire) .
"Detailed pictures" means that we would like to have single shots of every electronic component and of the board in general.
The nice stuff is all around the board, the rest is just electrical stuff and is less interesting.
Any integrated circuit expert on this forum?

I can't even compile the code, if you know any good manner of getting me started into this i would really appreciate it.
Things started here:

Well, the guys which have initially analyzed the firmware have found references to AK4646 as audio chip but i can't see it on my camera.
I don't know if it is integrated in something else or what, i even asked lensrentals' Roger Cicala about that and he said he couldn't find it even on 5DII and III so that could be a clue and a hope.
Unfortunately i don't know about C and ARM in general, i can just guess and test but i can't surely write any code.
I'm going to try your autoexec and see if it solved the problem with my 50D.
Thanks.
#716
But the 50D doesn't have audio so where does it come from?
It could be the LCD driver buzzing but it's just speculating about nothing, really.
Could you generate a beep from the 50D? It has got a tiny speaker for the audio confirmation of the focus and i think that's the only thing it can generate.
What do you think?
Also, what is left about the video compression codec?
Just P and I regulate the amount of data?
#717
Iso changes the bitrate because of the noise, same way a RAW file shot at 12800 iso is heavier than a shot at 100 iso even if the former is crappy.
Noise has to be recorder, and so it burdens the file.
#718
But why is the something buzzing?
It is not the usual beep.
#720
Probably, why did it buzz anyway?
It doesn't do it all the time, can you take his code and try to log what happens at shutdown?
#721
See this, the datasheet of the LCD driver.

That could be it ;)
#722
Lol, it does it only when i turn the camera off while in LV but it is not reproduceable because it doesn't always occur.
Ask 1%, i never experienced such stuff.
What might it be, in your opinion?
I can't understand if it's coming from the little speaker placed in the back cover or it is something related to the screen trying to shut down (and all the electronics related) .
Does the LCD driver have the ability to trigger sounds (ok, that was just a wild guess) .
Anyway, you should probably allow users to fiddle with each available setting related to the encoder.
I can't test with this build, i don't know if it's my 50D that doesn't like it.
#723
Nope, and by the way beep is always disabled on my 50D (just double checked it) .
This is the noise. It has never done it with any other build, just with this one from 1%.

The scrollbar is a bit odd, i would rather have an arrow pointing down if we are at the very top of the list, pointing up if at the very bottom and both if in the middle of it.
#725
Well, i just shut the camera off with this autoexec while still in LV and the camera generated a strange noise or a series of very fast beeps, i can't understand.
What is this? :S
I can record it if you want.
