Short answer: Yes or no.
Those who know the future don't participate in this thread but relax on their own islands which they purchased after having a great time in the casino.
Longer answer: If you can't stand the risk of turning your camera into a solid paperweight you might want to stay away from pre-alpha software versions.

Hello!
I'm pretty new to this, I got my 650D in front of me, but I can't find any download for ML on the site, where is it, or is there one?

2nd Question, if a installation fails, is there anything you can to to fix the camera?

1. Make sure that the firmware is fixed for a booting from SD card. If not, follow this instruction:
   - Download this boot fix: http://nanomad.magiclantern.fm/650D/magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2013Feb02.650D.BOOTFIX.zip
   - Extract this to your SD card
   - Put the SD card in your camera and do a firmware update
   your camera firmware is fixed :)

2. Make sure that the bootflags is setted on your SD card. If not, follow this instruction:
   http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/install#installing_magic_lantern_on_other_cards

3. Download the new zip file and extract it to your SD card.
   Note, the name of the zip file contained a creating date in european format.
   ML_N_11.05.zip
   ML = Magic Lantern
   N = nightly
   11.05 = 11 May

4. Test this build diligently and report the bugs ;)

Hiya

This is what I am getting when following the guide:

First when I try to update firmware I get a screen telling me that

"Firmware Update Program"
".....Loading"

I am then returned to the screen where I can select "firmware ver.: 1.0.1"
then after a few seconds the following text appear over the usual screen text:

" EnableMainFirm "
" :) "

I downloaded the files from the links posted right above and have followed the instructions.

As far as searching this thread for "EnableMainFirm" goes, a1ex wrote the following.

That's for unbricking, not for enabling the boot flag.

Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?

But I mean, we are supposed to report the bugs, how big is the chance of my camera just stop working? If something goes wrong can i reset it or something?

adrian2013

Does anyone know when it will be made stable version?

ThibaultAnd

By the way guys, I think we should rename the topic status to ALPHA, we are far from the Hello World status right now :)

"if it breaks you get to keep both parts" This al (pre)alpha, so it has the potential to permanently brick you camera. If you can't take that risk, do not use it. However, this also applies to the stable version. Overall the software is very stable. If you get a freeze, pull the battery.... as you may be overheating your CPU, if you format the SD, ML will no longer boot, and you are back to stock firmware.

I don't believe it's in ML for the 650d yet. If you highlight movie tweaks under the video menu in ML you can see it listed but when you enter movie tweaks it's not there, i'm guessing when it's added it'll be there.

i've been following this thread for several days and im grateful to u guys for ur great work!

i heard of the RAW things of the 60D from a friend of mine, he said the 60D had the same problem of pinky dots on the image but soon u guys fixed it, what im thinking is, can 650D be fixed in the same way? are they similar?

im not asking or requesting u guys to do things, i know u have ur own schedule so im just saying.

THX for ur work again

im aware that the problems on 60D and the 650D are different. the color dots on the 60D are separate but what i see on my camera was an area of regularly arranged dots. so i id better spend my time on other features~ ;)
