I'm curious about how this whole setup looks like... How do you put all these things together and what are drawbacks?

you need 3 components to set up an anamorphic lens:

1. Taking lens: a regular lens with a focal length of 50 and above for APS-C (to avoid vignette)

2. Clamp, anamorphic lenses sometimes do not have a rear thread, and if they do, the diameter size is usually uncommon. So a clamp is needed to attach the anamorphic lens to the taking lens.

3. Anamorphic projector lens (sankor/kowa/bell howell etc)

The drawback is the minimum focus distance of 1.5m, and double focus, so we have to focus the taking lens and the anamorphic lens. There is a single focus solution using something like Rapido FV16 etc (you can Google it with the keyword single focus anamorphic).

Thanks a lot for the info, I had no idea it was so complex  :o
I'm now looking for a cheap combo to try anamorphic at least once in my life xDD
