@AWPStar
Opening the 59GB file took about 30 minutes. To put it into comparisson 100 clips total of 59GB only take about a minute

Hi AWPStar

I notice MLVP is struggling with large files.
I have a 59GB .MLV file when I import it in MLVP it is really slow. MLVP only using 9% CPU and 0.1MBS read on SSD (read from windows task manager)
Hardware is not an issue. i7-4771 16 GB RAM MLV files are on 1TB Samsung SSD rougly 450 MB/S read/write
Anything I can do to make this faster? I'm in kinda a hurry

Thanks

Hi AWPStar,

I have found a solution on why Resolve was crashing with MLVP CDNG and Premiere not opening them.

First, The default frame rate goes to 23.973 not 23.976. Resolve and Premiere can't handle 23.973 frame rate.
Second I switched to TPDM (the second last one in the list) now it plays back just fine both in Resolve and Premiere. The last debayer option (it says best) makes resolve crash and Premiere won't open.

Also I've gone back to an older version (2183 INTEL) because the newer version is crashing all the time.
These are the settings I use and work fine in Resolve and Premiere: Reconstruct, TPDM, AdobeRGB, Remove focus dots, CinemaDNG, Include Audio, File name (does not end with a number)

One last note: MLVP does not seem to remember my preferences when I restart the software, can you fix this?

Thanks,

-Nelson

Hi AWPStar

I'm currently using build mlvp.alpha.build2253.INTEL on windows 10
My antivirus is flagging MLVProducer as an virus (trojan) could you fix this? I'm using avira antivirus.

Also when I exort to cinemaDNG in this build i cannot play them in Premiere pro, it says unsupported. But it used to work in older versions (of MLVP)
In Davinci Resolve 12 when I try to open CDNG from MLVP it crashes. It also used to work in Resolve (11 and 12)
I have found a solution but it is a lot of work:
I simply import the CDNG from MLVP into Adobe camera raw converter (ACR) and convert them, then it plays just fine in resolve and premiere. But it is a ton of work, can you fix this or do you know how to automate this process, of replacing the MLVP-CDNGs with DNG from ACR.

Thanks

Hi @AWPStar
I've noticed MLVP most of the time does not render the audio, only the dngs but it didn't work in other codecs either.
Can you make an option render .wav only? So I don't have to re-render everything.
Thanks,
Nelson

@AWPStar
I've found the cause on why the paste option box is invisible.

I ran MLVP in administrator mode (before I didn't) this way windows 10 forgets where the windows are located and they go back to default position. (like you run mlvp for first time)
So the paste option box appears again and it worked fine.

But apparently paste box is not on top of other windows so it got hidden somehow in the edge of MLVP
Can you make a reset windows button or make the paste box on top of other windows, just like the media que?

Sorry if my explanation is a bit confusing, here's a video:

I hope you can understand the problem

@AWPstar
Hi again
Ive been searching for the paste options box for an hour now, still didn't find it.
But I've noticed a few things maybe that will help

When I copy from A a setting and paste on B clip and then hit ENTER the focus dots do get removed
So it apears the paste options box is working but just not visible . Now I can only use the default values of the paste settings box
Also the settings are not showing up for me either (ctrl+s)
This bug started occurring when I started using build 1908
Now when I start older versions the box is still invisible

I think something is wrong with my windows 10 which is weird because all software (I have a lot)  are working fine except MLVP.

@AWPStar

Thanks, removing focus pixels on 700D crop mode is working great

However the copy paste settings feature does not work anymore, I don't know what causing it.
First I change a couple of settings on clip A, then i go to media que (q) copy settings on clip A.
Then select clip B and paste, but when I click paste the paste window won't show up.
Do you know a way to fix it? It used to work just fine.

@AWPStar
Of course, can you PM me your email address? I use my air bridge to send the MLVs
Ill send 2 examples of bad moire and 1 clip in crop mode. Let me know if you need anything more.

I use 700D w/ latest firmware (I believe)
all shots were recorded 1280x544 RAW 2.0 (still better than 1920x1080 h264 :P)
This is a relatively low resolution compared to the sensors resolution
Maybe this is why I have so bad moire? Due a lot of downsampling, I'm not sure.

@qqqavi
Yes I've tried it, MLRaw viewer is good.
But it cannot remove focus pixels
So no option for me with my 700D ;(

700D/650D has focus pixels which are needed for autofocus(which I never use), with raw you have to map those pixels out. And there are a lot of them so manually is not an easy task.

I did not know about the new debayering method. When I rendered it I just left it as default, had no idea what it meant.
Now that I look at it the new one looks a lot sharper compared to the linear one. (or linear is just blurry)

Q) Also, does MLVP work like a what you see is what you get, refering to moire/ false color etc.  (in the MLVP viewport) or, do I have render to see what it will actually look like in premiere/ resolve etc?

2) Unfortunately the crop pattern 24x 30 also did not work I tried shifting the pattern it helped a bit, it removed some blue dots in the middle but none red at the top and bottom.

new debayer does not seem to get rid of moire/ false color:

I will run more tests/ comparisons tomorow

PS: I am not a pixel debayering/ mosiac expert, if you haven't noticed yet

Thanks Levas
The blurring the UV in YUV channels trick (or AB in LAB) helped me on most of my shots.
However on one shot it didn't work for me, only solution I could come up with was tracking the object and desaturating it.
Here is a link to the DNG file:

Do you know how to deal with these situations?

Much thanks,

@AWPStar thanks for the tip, you saved me a lot of time
However I still have 1 problem (actually 2)

1: From the shots where I recorded in crop mode, the focus dots did not get properly removed.
Turning on Remove hot pixels helped a bit but definitely did remove all of them. Do you know a way to fix this?

2: Not sure where to post this but,
I have some weird color artifacts on contrasting edges, I don't know if this is related to my camera (700D) or MLV in general
Edit: apparently this is called moire (I just found out today)
Don't want to spam the Magic Lantern forum with double posts, so here's a link to a (detailed) post with examples:

Raw Video / Weird color artifacts RAW 700D
November 02, 2015, 06:29:40 PM

Hi,
I have been using MLV raw on my 700D for a week, however I notice some strange color artifacts on contrasting edges.
I used MLV Producer to convert to CDNG (Cinema DNG) and remove focus dots. (only mlv converter I have found so far that can remove focus dots from multiple MLVs)
Here are the settings I used:
http://s22.postimg.org/76qk698y9/196f55ea33843025ded7f2c83d57ea7d.png
Turning on 'remove hot pixels' did not help in case you were wondering

Does anyone know a smooth workflow to fix this? I have about 300 MLV clips and most of them have these weird artifacts.

Here are a few more examples if you are interested:

Hi,
First of all; this is the best ML raw processing app i've seen so far, it properly removes the pink dots from my 700d.
However, I have a about 300+ raw clips and I can't globally remove the dots from all clips, so I have to open every clip and select the 'remove focus dots' check box
I've noticed the tabs red colored aren't global and those black are. For example when I change the white balance to very warm, all 300 clips become warm.
But this does not work on the Remove focus dots' checkbox, is there any to fix this? I don't prefer clicking 300+ times to remove focus dots on all the clips.
