I have some questions for a friend that uses à 5D MK III in auto ISO. I tried to find the responses via the search in the forum but could not find a definitive answer.

So, are these functionnality could be implemented in the 5D MK III in the future ?

1 – Minimun shutter speed in auto iso in AV mode superior than 1/250. At least 1/500 and 1/1000.

2 – Exposure compensation in auto iso in M mode.

If theses questions have been already answered, please refer me to the thread in question.

What I would do is go to the config menu and delete the config file and see if the option reappears.

I would have liked to do the same thing but with the LV enabled. But since you only can focus in LV with the of-on button, it must be impossible to implement (at least with old camera that do not focus by themselves in LV like the 5D MK II.

If we add the AF option, we can make a settings menu (the last item under Shoot menu) which can contain:

- AF: for any picture taken by ML tools (intervalometer, motion detect, whatever)
- Number of pics taken at once (currently used for motion detect and trap focus, maybe other tools may need it too).
- Snap Simulation (from debug menu)

Hello,

I finally decided to try the nightly builds especially for the aperture bracketing. It woks very well. Thanks for developing it. Of course there is a slightly delay between the two pictures so your model need to stay still after your first shot to facilitate the post process alignment.

I would like to use this feature with OCF and i'm wondering if the option ISO shift if there for that.

Here is the feature I would like. Instead of changing the tv to have correct exposure when changing the aperture, would it be possible to change the iso value.

For exemple, i want a stable sync speed of 1/200 and want to use 1.2 for the first picture and 2 EV for the other one. Instead of lowering my speed, would it be possible to change the iso from 100 to 400?

Maybe that is what the iso shift if there but i was not able to figure this out.

So, the simplest way to try the nightly build would be to replace the autoexec.bin that is on the already bootable card that contains the 2.3 version with the autoexec.bin from the nightly build. And then, when i put the card in the camera, the new menu will appear when I press the trash can.

And if I want to go back to the 2.3 version, i only have to replace the autoexec.bin file again.

Doing that, i don't have to go to the firmware update process.

Does it make sense ?

So if I understand correctly, when i put the card with the new autoexec.bin file in the camera and press the trash can, it's the nightly build menu that will appear. I have nothing more to do.

I have already installed magic lantern version 2.3. Now, i would like to try the latest nightly build. Is it possible for me to keep 1 card with the official 2.3 release and another card with the nightly build and just switch the card whatever the version I want to use.

For example, if i put the card with the nightly build on it, will the camera recognize automatically the firmware without other manipulation on my part or do I have to install it via the firmware menu.

Ok, I use a cheap 5-in-1 universal IR remote that can be found on ebay and elsewhere.
Face detection auto focus with that one and my 600D works fine.
(It's nice to have the swivel screen of the 600D for self portraits).

Thank you, i did not know it was possible with other remote. I will buy one on ebay to try with my camera and hope it will also work on a 5D. Does anyone been able to use auto focus with a ir remote on a 5D in liveview ?

I think it is a bit too much risky for my new 5D. I will live without aperture bracketing until it goes to official build or maybe when I'm more familiar with ML in general.

If it works without problems, it will be included. That's why you should try it in the nightly builds and share your experience with it.

Nanomad states to not use nightly builds and stick to stable release.

So, the nightly builds is like the 2.3 version with added features without documentation ? What are the risks of using nightly builds ? Just more bugs ?

What problems did you find with it?

The question is probably not for me but what i meant by stable is enough stable to be incorporated in an official version of the firmware. What is the reason it's not in the 2.3 version ?

I really would like to know if this feature is supposed to be incorporated in more stable build in the future. This is one feature I would really use.

Use an IR remote if your camera supports it.
They often have a 2 second timer button which is convenient. Use live view with face detection if your camera supports it.

Face detection auto focus function won't work with ir remote (at least with rc-1).

This is a nice blog post on Strobist.com with some great suggestions for self-portraits. There is a section on nailing the focus.

That is the problem. I want to use my 85 between 1.2 and 2.0 because I like the look at those aperture. So, it's not easy to nail focus. And yes, i will use off camera lighting.

Try the intervalometer without success. The camera is not focussing by itself before taking shot and the documentation does not talk about focus option either. Did I miss something ?

Is there a way to have the camera to focus before taking the shot when using the Audio RemoteShot option like when using a remote control ? I don't seem to be able to.
