In the Debug menu there is a display for the current EFIC chip temperature, is it possible to obtain and log this temperature to a file on the SD card?

Why? It's already in the exif data of the photos you take

KLDSRF

I'd need it independent of whether or not a photo is taken (eg. take a photo when temperature is < 20)

It would be pretty easy to make such a trigger with a module. I'm just confused, what exactly are you really trying to do? Create a temperature trigger? Why? Or create of log of the temperature, which is what your first post suggests? Why? I can think of reasons you might want to know the temp of a particular picture when it was taken, but I can't think of why you would need it any other time.

KLDSRF

Capturing photos with low thermal noise for astrophotography, and the log would be for comparison purposes (trying to see how much an increase in temperature affects the image).
