I haven't installed ML yet. I want to know if ML is installed in the camera or do you need to shoot with the card that has the software. Can you record with a cad that does not have the software.
Thanks.

The software goes in the card.

On 5D3 you can run the camera without ML by removing the SD card.  If you want to bypass ML press SET while the camera is booting.
On other cameras, if you put a card without ML, it will copy the ML files to the card.  If you want to bypass ML press SET while the camera is booting.

That is so funy!   It actually happened to me! ;D

I tested with my 7D with fresh card and whala, ML showed up.  I thought this was a feature!
What I did not realize is that I had used that card before and that ML was already installed, so shame on me. :'(

For the record I tried it out and after i put the freshly formatted card on 7D without ML the camera booted without ML.

Do you have to install every time you use a new card?

The new card should be prepared by EOSCard utility to function properly.  make sure you put the ML files in the card before preparing with EOScard utility.

Do not need to set the flag in the camera again, this is only done once.

So you do this once and you can just keep using new formatted cards?
