CF Trancend UDMA7 1000x will it work?
« on: May 26, 2013, 09:25:31 PM »
Will it be enough for 1080p raw on a canon 5D mark III?

On paper:
Read 160 mb/s
Write 120 Mb/s

Any thoughts?

My 128GB 1000x Transcend UDM7 CF Card writes at 79-83 MBS on my 5DMarkIII, far below the advertized write speed. The CF benchmark (1 mn test)  also gives the same write speed.

My 32 GB works fine... I'm seeing average of high 80s at full 1920 x 1080 with Global Draw Off with no dropped frames.

What about one with 64Gb??? I'm going to buy one tomorrow in the local store, hoping that it works like 32Gb do, unless someone reports a bad speed results...
Thanks.

There is a thread dedicated to card speed tests.... 16/32 are faster. You will most likely have issues with a 64. Check the speed test thread for all the info you could handle.

16Gb version indeed will be slower, 32Gb is faster.
I aslo read a review from a guy who said that Transcend cards write speed increases after low level format using branded utility from their site.

I´ve just ordered the 128 GB version and will report how it performs before and after low-level formatting with "AutoFormat"!

Just got my Transcend 64 GB 1000x card. In 25p and up to 1920x1152 it records continuous. At 1280 res the recording stopped after around 500 frames. No hacks or workarounds tried, all stock settings (except for 25 fps), build from 22th June.

I can recommend the card  8)

Ok, today I got my 128 GB version of the Transcend 1000x.
Didn´t use Autoformat yet because I don´t know which option to choose from (optimised format, no option ticked, complete format).

So far I´ve had no single recording that´s been stopped - but it seems tight at first glance: It starts with around 1 or 2 ms idle and goes up, when the card warms up.

Is there any updates to these tests?

I am stuck between buying 128gb or 64gb and do not know if either is reliable. I know this thread is old but would love an update from any of you, thanks!
