So say you shooting in low light and you want the shoot to be dark anyway, do you think you would get better results by shooting raw at say iso 200 and no altering the exposure in post or using ettr and taking the iso up to 6400 and bringing the exposure down in post.
which do you guys think would produce cleaner results on a 5D3?
Thanks again :)

From what I've heard ETTR will produce cleaner results. Even with high ISO. Plus the 5d3 high iso mustn't be too terrible (compared to lower end cameras).

As a general rule of thumb, if you have to raise by more then 1EV in post, increase ISO 1 stop when shooting.
If you have to raise by more then 2EV in post, increase ISO 2 stops, etc, etc.

If you have to increase exposure by less then 1EV in post, it's much of a muchness.  You can use a lower ISO (say 100) and increase in post, or use a higher ISO (say 200) and decrease in post.

ETTR with shutter/aperture first, at the lowest ISO possible.  Then increase ISO depending on what you are doing with the shadows.

The difference between ISO 200 and ISO 6400 is 6 full stops!  You will get cleaner shadows by raising ISO.  You just need to be careful what you do to your midtones/highlights.

after some testing, it seams shooting with a higher iso and bring it back down in post gives cleaner results then just shooting at iso 200 and leaving up to about iso 3200, any higher then that and the midtones start to get noisy and lose sharpness
