I've own a G12 for a short period a time, which had fast shooting mode, I'm not sure how it works but I think it works like just using contrast detection then taking picture by powering on sensor.

as far I know there are AF points on the EOS M's sensor, maybe, just maybe, its possible to push the cameras AF speed by optimizing AF codes.

also aware of canon will release a new firmware in 5 days.

I think it's still worth researching this for focus confirmations, or for showing in which direction you should focus manually.

Yeah that is a good research idea. I was referring to AF optimization

Could you not call a command that will prevent the AF dots to show up in RAW recording? So it will "freeze" the AF points if they are called?

????

Sorry for the vague explanation :P

When you record normally with eos M /650D /700D the autofocus points don't show so it should be a way to remove those AF dots.

Why does these AF dots show up in RAW?

nanomad

Probably because the RAW stream we are using is for AF debug purposes
