How to Record: -- 60/50 fps RAW Video for 5D3 & others --

I've red all the topics but I'm not sure to have all well understood.
To resume, there is no way to have the image not stretched when you record 48, 50, or 60fps?
You can choose any aspect ratio combined to any resolution, you will still have to unstretch the image in AE?
Or have I missed something?
My concern isn't in the quality loss but more in the stretched grain which tends to make visible patterns to appear.

Not sure if this is too relevant... But with my workflow I just import to PP, or AE, and apply a crop, and hit stretch.

It will play back the best if interpreted at 24fps, however if that speed doesn't suit your needs just slowing it down manually works.

My shutter speed varied depending on the lighting available at the time. sometimes was as high as 1/1000 (because i had the intention of using twixtor)

At 60fps i was only able to get about 10sec
50fps would have given me continuous.

Renato, thanks so much for the post!  I work for a studio and we used the 60fps hack for some underwater video!  Check out the write up:

We shot the 5dmk3 underwater at 1920x672 (only four seconds with each shot).  We then interpreted at 23.976, stretched to 1920x1080, and used The Foundry's Chronos to slow it down to match 100fps.

Is anyone using Resolve for overcrank footage?  I can't get my 60p footage to be 60p.   Resolve conforms it all to 24p.

To "fix" the 24p to your desired fps you have to go to File/Project settings/Master project settings/Timeline format/Playback frame rate

A little test

Here,s a comparison between two aspect ratios on a 5d mark 3 and a tutorial how to restretch several clips in 50fps in after effects.
Conclusion

(16:9) 1728 x 606 50fps works continuous and works fine interpolated to 1920x1080

Other fine alternative aspect ratio continuous is 1920x544(2:20:1)

is there anyway just to shoot 1080P @ 60fps thru the hdmi out put? I just placed an order for the ninjablade and it looks as if it can candle the writespeed required as well as the format.

Is there any possibility of someone making a new step by step guide regarding the new options structure of some of the latest Nightly Builds?
I'm trying to get a 1920x1080 video (1920x672 stretched).

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but whenever I try to put a frame rate of 48 or 60fps in the desired FPS, I got much less in actual FPS - something around 27fps. 

Edit: Problem solved, I wasn't using the HD 720p 60fps option in Canon's menu.

I am thinking of installing RAW video on my 5D MKIII and I would like to ask some questions about 60p.

I have been reading a lot of threads and I am not sure about shooting with higher framerates, so here are my questions:

1) When shooting with these non-standard resolutions, what is monitoring on the LCD like?  Do you have a much smaller preview area to look at?

2) I am happy to edit and deliver in 720p60.  Is there a resolution that will be 16:9 that will only need cropping, instead of stretching?

3) I am looking at the new Sandisk 128GB CF cards which seem to be nice and fast (160 MBps read model).  If I use a resolution closer to 720p60, will I end up with more record time due to the lower data rate?

4) I would need continuous recording.  What is your resolution recommendation for 720p60 editing?

Please has anybody tried a ML Raw slow motion with the 7D , 6D or any other body except the 5D mark 3.
It's shown in the ML Raw capabilities that either the 7D and 6D can do slow motion in Raw, but still i haven't seen any video relating slow motion done otherwise.

Hi Everyone,

Was hoping to get some advice. I'm currently shooting on 5D3 with the latest build. For as long as I can remember once I attempt to shoot at 60fps and play with the resolution setting i'm unable to get a write speed above 60 MB per second. Is that normal? If so i'm cool with it. At 1920 X 1080 24fps i'm able to dip into the mid 90's write speed.

I just shot a music clip with lots of slomo. But I see that its a lot noisier than normal raw footage. especially in darker shots its almost unworkable with some kind of fixed noise pattern.
