My company uses canon 7ds for an automated camera system. The cameras are controlled by custom software app (c#) we've written on a PC (running XP). The camera is connected to the cpu via a usb cord. Our software triggers the cameras and downloads the images for ftp.
We're encountering a reoccurring sporadic issue with the 7ds where the mini usb connection fails (software won't trigger the camera). The issue appears to be with the canon 7d's usb connection or perhaps a camera usb driver, and the present solution is to turn off the camera unplug the usb from the camera, plug it back in and restart the camera. Can anyone shed any light if 7ds are known to have issues with their usb port/software? If so is there any solution to increase reliability surrounding this issue OR are there other Canon DSLR's that are more reliable in this department (ie: I know the 5d mkII has a faster processor but is it's usb different/better/more reliable? Any help or insight is appreciated as we're stumped.)

Since you're programmers. If you get ML running, try to take some debug logs.. You'll see what the messages leading up to usb disconnection are.
