Bracketing sequence question (newbie)

I tried searching but came up with feature requests. For me its more simple. ML gives you three different choices for the sequence, but I dont really understand what they are. Can someone give a basic explanation or point me to somewhere I can read up on it please?

They should be:
- Both under and over exposure
- Only over
- Only under
