Yes, I was getting that when I was originally trying to get it to work, but I forget what I did. Maybe you need to do the EOScard step when you put the http://nanomad.magiclantern.fm/650D/magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2013Feb02.650D.BOOTFIX.zip on in that first step as well as after you replace the files?

Same thing happened. I guess I better be patient and wait for an official public release before I do something majorly wrong :) thanks anyway

That's for unbricking, not for enabling the boot flag.

That makes sense I guess, have no idea why it's saying so, hmm maybe it's not liking the files and it's enabling the main firmware to avoid damage?

All I know is I kept getting that until I somehow got the right setup and got ML working.

Ah, that's right. I also adapted my method of getting it working on my camera from the method from installing the pre-alpha that's no-longer available (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=3697.msg24949#msg24949). Obviously you can't do the dumper part (and I didn't need to). If you (or anyone) wants to continue, you'll have to interpret that and think about what steps to do. I'd be more descriptive, but I'm off to bed now.

JUST DON'T USE THAT AUTOEXEC OR FIR
It bypasses a critical safety check so it can potentially damage your camera. For real this time
And that FIR is no good, unless you have a screwed up bootflag on your camera

How does it affect the camera? How do i know if something broke?

Good question. If the camera still works correctly it probably didn't damage anything
(Truth be told this check was missing in the pre-alpha too but we may have been lucky)

So excited for the release. I often fondle my camera and envision the moments when I will slid that little ML card into her.....this sounds dirty.....but seriously I cant wait!!!

Well there we go. I guess it is best to wait until the official alpha, though I still don't get how I managed to get it working on my camera.

Can you uninstall ML if you do not like it and want to go back to the orginal FW or is it now permanent

Mine works without the card in, and I can boot up without ML running by holding down SET as I turn it on.

You can always remove the bootflag from both the camera (by re-running the fir you used to install ML and turning the dial when asked) or the SD card (by doing a low level format with KEEP ML option turned off)

These threads really need a sticky post (that is unaffected by scrolling) giving the answer to the most frequent question... ::)

Or plaster this everywhere

http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/faq?&#troll_questions

Or better yet, make it pop-up in a lightbox kind of embedded pop-up thing for non-registered users.

Or better yet, for people like me who are itching in their pants to get a working version of ML advise that monetary donations will not help but coders/programmer will.

Note to people monitoring this thread: How many people eagerly checked the thread to see if my post was a release???? ;-)

We are not accepting donations, so that should be clear enough ;)

Hello, why to have no version ml with the functions which do not walk to block  it would allow all to practice and it could wait

I think Oli is requesting a version of ML with the buggy parts disabled so that other less buggy areas can be tested(played with).

I presume the extra effort required to do this should just go towards fixing the bugs?

I think Oli has to use more punctuation marks.
