I really don't know if is possible, but it would be awesome if we could record via USB to an external hard drive for big space capacity and it allows to use the high bit rate possible.

Thank you.

P.S. If someone finds out how to change the codec, DNxHD would be amazing!

Thanks for the quick answer.

The EOS Movie Recorder can work only with a computer, and the Ninja and others are REALLY expensive.

But i guess there is no chance to plug my small 250GB external usb hard drive and record....

Thanks anyway ;)

Camera lacks usb host. There are some hints in the firmware about usb storage but I don't think it will happen and its probably PTP related.

I guess wifi card is closest but not live, just a sneaker-less shuttle to another device.

Is there a chance of making this a feature to empty the card to a hard drive?

Like: plug in an external Hard drive to the USB port, then select an option in ML to move all the contents of the card to a hard drive?

Would be nice to do this on one of those long outdoor journey so you don't have to bring a laptop or a tablet.

No, PTP works the other way around (the drive has to start the "conversation", not the camera)
