With ML 2.3 whenever I enter live view on my Rebel T3i/600D and half press the shutter to focus something goes wrong with the camera. The video becomes slightly corrupt on the screen and I get a text message across the middle of it like:

D:\DCIM\100CANON\58670001.422
D:\DCIM\100CANON\58670002.422
D:\DCIM\100CANON\58670003.422
D:\DCIM\100CANON\58670004.422
D:\DCIM\100CANON\58670005.422

This happens in both live view in photo mode and movie mode. In movie mode, the camera will crash when trying to turn it off. In live view mode the camera shuts off properly and behaves properly once again outside of live view.

Checking the memory card, these files were in fact created. They are all 1452kb or 3101kb in size. They seemingly co-exist along side any photos taken on the camera.

1st, turn off silent pics.

2nd. Try zooming in crop mode while recording.

Turning off silent pictures did the trick. As far as zooming while in crop mode while recording... I have no idea how to do that.
I've never done video, and trying it just now, I could not figure out how to crop or zoom, or even focus for that matter.

I would be happy to try it if it would help you, but otherwise my problem has been solved.

Read the user guide. All the menus can a lot to learn at once.

Zoom in and crop (3x zoom) happen by holding the disp button and pressing the + key.
