Hello there.

I've been wanting to make my own crop mark for ML really madly.
BUT
I can not get a BMP file down to 11.6kb or 7.3kb
It's always 600kb+ and that Causes the camera to completely crash.

Can any one look at these here files.

And see whats wrong with them & fix them for me AKA stretching them resizing them.
Or
I really up to date detailed install and how to make them.

EDIT:

I need to point that i.

1.Got the original BMP file from ML crop-marks folder.
2.Put it in after effects.
3.Then made it all in after effects.
4.Then rendered the image to Photoshop file & PNG & JPEG
5.Then put in in to Photoshop
6.Then rendered the image to a BMP file only able to go to 16 Bit (File size all wasy comes out as 600kb+

I have no intention to make it in side of Photoshop

Try with GIMP, edit an existing cropmark, then save it as RLE (run-length encoded).

1.I can't RLE dose not seem to be reconized.
2.What would i do after i have a RLE

exomonkeyman

It's boiling down to 1 thing and 1 thing only.

BMP files are almost impossible to get that small.

I have no idea what SO EVER how he was able to get them to 11.4kb file size.
It really seems like BMP files can't go that small

Right, RLE files saved from Gimp are not recognized (that's a bug in ML). But uncompressed BMPs (330K) are working.

So the only way to get small BMPs would be to use convertrle.rb ( http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Cropmarks#Photoshop_step_by_step_guide ).

Really? I'm pretty sure last cropmark I created, I saved it as RLE through GIMP as BMPs saved with RLE compression in Photoshop didn't work.

i din't say RLE did not work on ML (I'm saying there was no such format in gimp for me)

I wanna say that the page link you gave me, Was helpful to a certain point.

1.I was able to put it on the camera
2.The colors changed to pink ect, & the base BG the color white changed to grey meaning that the BG became non transparent. so it loading all white/grey in the camera.
3.When it got to the point of loading the coverter.RC or CR. Let be put his shortly, It becasme completely non english as it was done on a MAC I.E terminal I.E The script just dose not load. I.E it said get ruby???

*EDIT*

Well i'm only gonna take more notice once a simple clean windows up to date video tutorial comes out.

I'm fed up off popping my card in and out of my camera to find it's all white or just CRASHES my camera.
Simple video i need cause i aint gunna crash or read text that's SUPER hard to understand (And i know my spelling and speech is horrible, Sorry)

I am able to confirm that an uncompressed BMP, created starting from an existing BMP file in ML package works.

I started from passeport.bmp, selected the background color, used the fill tool on the whole image then used the same red color to raw 4 lines (square and 16/9 framings).

It works.

But it seems that ML crashes sometimes.
