Hi

So i'm looking to buy a PowerBank for the Canon EOS M. There is some videos and post in facebook, etc that talks about it, the problem is that often in the links provided the hardware is no longer available.
Anyways, i don't know what a good substitute will be. I read that an inadequate powerbank can ruin the camera. So are any of this PowerBanks good for the EOS M?

Can any of those PowerBanks work good with the Adapter?

Thanks in advance for your help. Ah an important note, i'm planning to buy a monitor for the EOS M in a few months so a PowerBank that will not be in the way will be essential.

DR-E17 adapter will not fit into M. See manual page 296.

Powerbanks rated around 20.000 mAh have an average weight around 400 gramm. Anyone telling same capacity with 250 g: Major BS alarm triggered.

Go for tested/reviewed powerbanks. If test includes disassembly: Top!

Thanks. So the adapter that i linked will not work?. What adapter will work?... can you please give a name?

Also does any of the powerbank that i linked will work with the EOS M like the Anker PowerCore?

Maybe take a look into page 296 of your manual.

Has it been reviewed/tested? And I don't mean what amazon calls product reviews.

Manual.., manual. What manual? Are you referring a manual from the EOS M? i bought that like a month ago second hand since is no longer being produced, so no manual.

Maybe if you tell me what powerbank, in case you use one, are you using with your Canon and what adapter?..., assuming you have an EOS M and not any other model..

I have two of those: https://kopplen.com/collections/phone-charging/products/kopplen-palm-sized-10000-mah-dual-usb-power-bank-blackpbk-pd07blk
(Can be found at BestBuy or Walmart if you're in America)

With this adapter:https://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Charger-ACK-E12-Coupler-Battery/dp/B073Z75LSF/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1STNDKOLYCOTK&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Dso_Iid1RmbDLxqiFgNjcOINeu332OdyaMg4wybk95CQZHVH4Hla9P74cMi5qZqXYWGcrhOfNB9tPymjFvc2Ha79oFBPl-iMV6JpQT84G0psb9hznvh_GSm1_GnTscPddVctlWQJ77pDyAl9QNsehjKkPhCbr7DYyN5ODjvSLXaYpAEzVncV9THRzr3YrLoeTHqgR9caYBvAU4rdMj7NN0-Wxitsyag1-GmSjNpXLM8.j4mgS4vZw8rUe3-8HU_6hyqPLAoSzQUmOjkdaf8ciJE&dib_tag=se&keywords=canon+eos+m+dummy+battery&qid=1714103575&sprefix=canonn+eos+m+dummy+battery%2Caps%2C253&sr=8-3

Will last about 7 hours on a full charge (I turn off the camera when i'm not recording)
Whatever you get, it needs to output at least 2 Amps @ 7.2v, otherwise the cam won't work well, if at all (Turns off randomly).
I have heard that when you use a usb powerbank with a usb voltage converter, the voltage is not as steady as with a powerbank with a straight 7.2-8v output, so it could damage the camera in the long run, because there is no regulator inside the camera (It expects a battery). I haven't opened the camera to check that claim, so you may want to do same research on that topic to make sure...
EDIT: see @walter's post below

Canon has the manuals freely available online.

This is a matter of quality, same as with the battery.  Good voltage converters contain a regulator and can provide *more* stable output than an original battery.

And there are regulators inside.

But no idea where the limits of those regulators are. AFAIK nobody published hard data how ripples and voltage drops affect internal power rails.

BTW: Thanks to Project Farm video I stumbled across company Baseus. Bank tested is not available here so I ordered their 20,000 mAh and hoping they didn't cut corners. This hope is generally not advised because in power bank business you get scammed a lot following assumptions.
Price is ok and with 35 percent discount it is a deal.
Will not use it for cams but portable lights (most likely).

Thank you very much for the answer guys. I heard that is better to connect a NP-F battery instead of PowerBank since the battery is connected directly to the camera and no conversion is needed like with the PowerBank method.
