Hello! Sharing with u my latest ML Raw Video I shot last week. That was a improvised scene my friend Arthur Gregory and I create after we got out the gym near this location.

I shot using the kit lens canon 18-55mm f3.5 and handheld. This entire scene took us less than 15min to shoot, before we were invited to leave

Looks awesome! Amazing separation between subject and background.

A quick question: How did you get such a blurry background from a f/3.5 kit lens?
Did you keep the lens zoomed all the way to 55 millimeters all the time?

r. The blurry background is because of 2 things, I wonder: the kit lens from 35mm and above compresses the background more, bringing layers together, and it cause that effect of narrower depth of field, BUT, the other important thing is that a set up ML to "open gate" mode, it means, almost 4:3 aspect ratio (1736x1160), and so this can increase that separation of background from subject a bit more :)

Very interesting, thanks!
I wasn't aware of the "open gate" mode. Will look in the ML settings and try to find it and experiment with it.
