Black screen with flashing red light during upgrade on Canon T2i

I've read the documentation.. Update my camera with the 1.0.9 firmware on Canons site. Problem is, the Canon firmware causes the same reaction. I've tried using both the EOS Utility to install it, and by putting the firmware on the card and installing it from the camera menu. I've tried 4 different cards to no avail. It starts to say Upgrading firmware, then the screen goes black and the red light on the corner of the camera starts to flash red. I have to remove the battery to be able to boot the camera back up. Canon just responded and said to RMA it. Wondering if anyone has fixed this on their own?

What card do you have? Did you try a low-level format first?
