SD direct to Computer via USB

Hi, noob here. This isn't directly ML related, but I couldn't google the answer to this so here goes.

Would it be possible to:
1) wire the pins on a dummy SD card to interface directly with a USB cable, then
2) write a (linux) module or driver to present your PC (RAM or SSD) file as a super fast and massive drive to the camera
?
This gives you clean video out - possibly to use as web/security cam, and convenience when working in a studio or with a laptop, with postprocessing done on a powerful machine.

Regulars can tell about various attempts to make such and other devices happen. They all got ghosted. The thread you are necrophiling is around 2.5 years old and got no response. Guess why.
