3K mode vs 5K anamorphic quick test

I mean when I use 5d3 anamorphic mode, I can go iso 6400, in 3.5k 1x1 mode, I can go iso 1600.

same problem here, can you test with 1:1 1920? i cant go with iso much higher than that

on 650d i tested thoroughly 1x1 1920x1080p, i can go up to iso 400, iso 800 and above have so much noise, footage is just garbage.

by the way if you use iso 1600 and bring down the exposure in post by -1, you will probably get less noise than what you have with iso 800.. of course it means less dynamic range (maybe clipped highlights) in exchange for less noise.

you are right. i use auto ettr most of the time. i set the iso range up to 1600 on 650d, 6400 on 5d3 in anamorphic mode.

3.5k 1x1 mode has its own advantages though.
1. lens compatibility. super 35mm cine lenses, efs lenses, in addition to ef lenses.
2. dual iso. some mlers reported that he made 2 hours of 3.5k 1x1 footage with dual iso, without noticing any purple fringe. this is solid field test.
3. a tiny little bit higher resolution.
