-Hi Histor, thanks a lot for your reply!
May I ask you a question: isn't lightning "slow enough" to be caught by motion detection and full-resolution silent pictures? It might be tested with some video at home...
-Actually,i don't know...Because first,i do not know the existence of this setting with silent picture mode...But i will see and try...I guess that the motion detection works due the high luminous contrast difference between ''with'' and ''without'' lightning, isn't it?.Really interresting, one more time, thank you!But i have open this post due to an another kind of lightning, they are called TLE or ''transcient luminous event'' and these lightning are much more quick (1/10s) and much less bright...So i do not think that it could work with the silent mode motion capture...
1) No additional sensitivity
-OK,that would have been a dream!!

2) I guess buffering happpens in RAM, then data slowly pass to the card. Getting free RAM is a good idea - unload all unused modules. Long time ago we even compiled without some features (defishing, etc.) to make ML smaller.
-OK,i will breack my piggy bank for Lexar X1066!
3) Is the bitdepth really critical here? You're shooting just a bright line. Everything else should be blended from a good long exposure frame. Isn't it?
-I'm a artist photographer with a lot of deontology...Maybe too much...I am againt this kind of photomontage, particulary with nightscape photography... But for the lightning you are speaking about,it is the lightning itself that expose the scene...So blended montage is useless in my opinion.
Here is one of my picture, actually stacked picture extract from 4K video, with Sony A7s and Atomos Ninja 4K 10 bits (compressed) coming from HDMI. 25600 isos 85mm Lens F1,2 wide open 4K 25 i/s.The final picture has been resized into 3/2 format. The TLE duration is around 1/10s,here is 6 pictures stacked togheter to get the whole phenomenon.
