Full-res silent picture when in focus
« on: January 01, 2018, 10:33:12 AM »
Hi
There is the option to
Make a silent picture when it is in focus
Very nice, but only in the video hd resolution :(
While making a silent picture when in focus is ideal for wildlife photography
The native picture resolution of a 5DMKII in silent mode when in focus

Is that a can do?
Or a no can do?

Thanks

Borderline. It needs the following items:

- Full-res LiveView done on 5D3, WIP on 5D2, PoC for 700D, possible on all models in my opinion (but implementation will be model-specific, unfortunately).
- focus evaluation is broken in this mode (not obvious where to look to solve it, but it's likely a few registers requiring some tweaking; playing around with adtg_gui might help)
- on 5D2, focus evaluation is not done on every single frame, like on recent models (not sure how to fix)
- enough contiguous memory chunks to store a few full-res buffers (no problem on 5D2, only Rebels may have trouble with this one)

There are works in progress for understanding how LiveView works (see e.g. the 10/12-bit raw recording thread), but right now I'm unable to promise anything.
