Is it possible to implement an "outbrake" for camera controls through ML?

With ML its possible to use a soft focus - so you can change the focus of the camera using the arrow keys on the backside. It might be awesome to implement an "outside" trigger for this maybe via 2,5mm audio jack which is normaly used by the "lame normal" remote (automatic focus / take), which can be pimped towards additional focus or aperture using a rotary knob. This might be a huge progress for filming, (diy) rigs and smartphone apps.
