Oops, just saw your posting about fps. But what about lower resolution>higher frame rates?

Is it possible to magically set certain camera's for higher frame rates? I'm sure there's alot of technical hurdles, but I noticed Casio, Nikon and other manufacturers putting out "high speed video" shooting at lower resolutions (for example: (448x336 240fps), (640x480 120fps). Sample Camera Casio EXF1

Do you think it's possible to have the 5D mkii shoot at 720p @60fps.

OR

The 5D mkiii shoot at higher frame rates, since it has a faster processor?

if it was possible, i think you could drive the fps-override in 640x480 mode already higher

Hey there,

I am also very interested in using such High Speed functions for slow motion videos. I was wondering whether there is a connection between H.264 bitrate and the fps override function, but it doesn't look like this as the fps does not increase whene the bitrate is changed...

I don't know whether the following clip is fake but the user presents a frame rate of 2000fps with magic latern 2.3 using it's 60D:

What do cou think about this?

IT's either fake or he's a genious. I'll vote for the first one though

neither first nor latter.
i tend to someone who thinks that exposure time of 1/2000th means 2000 fps. *sigh*

Or that bee is faster moving than any bee I have ever seen and the camera holder has the shakiest hands I've ever seen.

I gather the wings (apparently) beat slowly due to the Wagon Wheel Effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon-wheel_effect where the frequency of the object closely matches the shutter speed. Producing an illusion of slow movement.

Have you seen the impossible helicopter viral video? Good example of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pbYKDW0myU

At 2000fps I would expect to see about 1 single wing beat? Replayed at 30fps that would be about a minutes worth.
