I read the wishlist post indicating that timecode would be difficult to support. I'm trying to determine if I need to upgrade my Canon 7D I and 5D II camera bodies to the latest versions. I was hoping to upgrade later when the 5D Mark IV is released.

The Zoom F8 Field Recorder can input or output LTC and the Atomos Shogun can input an LTC through the Genlock BNC. Has anyone tried to get this to work?

Hello,

No, unfortunately those cameras don't send out full frame clean HDMI signals, so they're actually not compatible with any of our recorders. You would need the 7D Markii or 5D Markiii to work with an Atomos recorder in this case.
