Memory cards and related

Hi,

I have a few questions relating to the 'installation' of ML as I don't really understand how it works.  Some places seem to suggest tha ML is installed on the camera, others that it is essentially installed on a card.  Which is it - or is it a bit of both?

If I use a card to do the installation, what will happen if I use a different card straight out of its packaging?

I guess what I am asking is once the camera has been 'set up', can I choose to use it 'ML' or 'non-ML' by either using the modified card or a fresh one?
