This short was shot mostly with the 5d mark III RAW. Magic lantern has done excellent work! We also used some sony cams as b-cams like the a7s and rx10 ii (which shot most of the slowmo stuff) but I loved the image of the 5d raw the most!

warning, it does contain violence and blood. Youtube and Vimeo links:

Love it! Amazing work for a short film. What's the budget? How did you guys prepare for the fight scenes? They look so professional. Did you have a choreographer? How long did the pre-production take? How many days of principal shooting? Is the girl a pro martial artist or something? (cause looked like so).

Hey, sorry it took me a while to answer! This was a personal project so I might've put in something like... 600-1000 euros maybe. Most of that went into little things like gas, music, sfx, clothing. Everything else was free, locations were free, actors were free, time was free. Did it in our freetime :) We had done some previous projects with Jessica and Jesse (we have a small stunt community here) so the fights weren't done with beginners but we did have experience in them.

Jessica and Jesse trained for about three/four evenings for the end fight. Most of the other stuff (knifings) were almost done on the spot. We had some actor changes etc happening so fast and there was really no time to train people that much so we picked people who could be quickly trained.  Pre-production was maybe hmm... I have no idea. I wrote the script, showed it to Jessica. She told me :"this is shit!" but we went and did it anyway. From the script we cut out one flashback scene that would've actually tied up the story better but I felt it was extraneous. I needed some producing help but in the end I guess I produced it mostly by myself. Jesse and Anton provided most help there. Hate producing.

The sword fight was shot with the Ronin M (5d mark III shooting RAW there) so that's why the movements are pretty good looking. We faked the car lights with two small and cheap led panels (only had one car for that scene and only for one hour so we shot the fight scene separately to that. The hand falling on the ground was shot when we had the car.)

Shooting days maybe 4-5 but they were mostly very short. Longest night was probably five or six hours, shortest was two or three. The entire house flashback was done in three hours.

Also has a couple of different cameras shooting beside the 5d raw, the a7s, a7s ii, rx10 ii.. maybe a shot with the a7r ii but didn't use them much. RX10 ii provided most of the 250fps slowmos's.
