ML raw recording skipping frames & 'stack overflow' error

Hi,

I've had ML v2.3 with firmware v1.1.3 installed for over a year on my Canon mk3, I've used it to shoot raw many times including a short film, with no issues. After not using raw recording for a while I returned to it only to find it was frequently skipping frames. I reinstalled ML using a different SD card but the problem persisted. I use Lexar 1000x CF cards (I have 3 different ones) and When I do a Benchmark test it tells me they can all do around 90 MB/s, so it should be fine to shoot 1920 by 1080 at 24fps. I can't figure out why it's dropping frames..

Also more worryingly, recently my camera freezes after I take about two photos. I get this message in red at the top of the LCD screen:
