Square format photography has been somewhat iconic. Remember old Rollies and other TLR cameras and Bronica SQ series?

I would love just two lines running top to bottom on my screen so I can compose to the well known square format.  I had just yesterday found a page with lots of crop marks but not one square format crop.

Please can someone do this?

I do not use ML but would do so if the square format crop marks existed.

you can make cropmarks yourself. you need to make a new image (720x480) and then draw whatever you'd like to. after that you need to indicate your color palette. with that you decide how your images colors will look like on the camera. after that save it as an 8-bit bitmap. now you already can use it. if you want to compress your cropmark though you can use "convert.rb" to make the size very small (usually 3-10kb).

If you donate a RED EPIC to me you officially are very cool ;)

Huuum. I've read the Step by step guide and feel well out of my depth with the ColourTable and paths! and Ruby! as well as many other things. My computer knowledge is fairly limited.

Maybe ML just isn't for me if just two crop lines require all that reading around and understanding. My mind boggles with what it must be like to use for 'other stuff' I've read on the mail ML pages.

I'll see if I can make something up tomorrow, as I think it might be handy for others too (including me!) :)

Is this what you're looking for?

If so, you can download it from here and save it to the cropmarks folder on the card ( \ML\cropmks\ ) :

Hi everybody! Sorry for posting in an old topic, but I think it is better to have all the things in one place.
Recently I was looking for the same square cropmarks for my 5dII but found nothing sutable. So I've made and tested some of my own.

You can get them here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2p2kcNy4f5uVGN3TWFRNW9udVE/edit?usp=sharing

There are 4 crops with black fields on both sides to see only square picture with different grids. A've also edded one more cropmark with no black fields. It has only one big square to show a middle format picture and small signs which shows golden section and rule of thirds for the full frame. The last one is my favorite as it is more universal for me.

Hope somebody find it usefull.

Can I show crop marks on the EOS M while displaying them over the original default photo screen?

Thanks!

John
