using both ML firmware on separate SD cards

I have a question since I was using only the previous ML firmware (v2.3), but haven't been using the latest one yet - nightly builds.
So, the reason is that I want to use  them both on my camera, due to some functions that older version has, and the newer doesn't, and opposite.
My question is can I keep one firmware on one SD card, and another one - on another SD card, and depending on what functions I will need I'm gonna use either one of them for my camera? I mean it is possible, but the main reason will it be harmful for my camera to switching over the SD cards with different firmware all the time?

If anyone has tried that or has a relevant advice, please, let me know.

Thnx!

Walter Schulz

ML is not firmware. It's much more like a program loaded after Windows/OS X startup.
So: If there is a nightly build running on the same Canon firmware version as you are using now you will be fine with two cards with different ML versions. If not: Much more complicated ...

Thnx for your answer, Walter.
Sorry about my misunderstanding about ML. Yes, it is actually a software, but not a firmware.

I actually have complete opposite situation with using my camera: I'm running now the older ML version, which is v2.3, but want to switch to nightly build.
And as being said, using 2 SD cards with 2 installed ML versions. Is that will be a problem to use it due to your words? and why?
Thanks again!

Walter Schulz

You got it wrong.

If (if!) v2.3 and the nightly build you intend to use do have to run on different Canon firmware version things will get complicated.
If both ML versions are compatible with the same Canon firmware version (the one you are running now) you may switch cards as you like.

Now I got it! Thank you so much for clarifying,Walter!
