[SOLVED] aperture keeps resetting

i am still testing and learning magic lantern.
i have 2.2xmas installed on my T3i with a Canon 50mm 1.4.
at the beach I set the aperture to 22.6 and then after a while the screen goes black and magic lantern is back to 1.4.
so I set it again to 22.6 and again the screen goes blank and back to 1.4.
so I changed the lcd power save feature for longer, but then the aperture changed back to 1.4 without the lcd going black.

what am I missing?

Xmas is no longer maintained. Was this with exposure override on?

exp override is set to auto.  is that resetting the aperture?  i did not see anything in the user guide about that.
the guide only mentions shutter and iso.

Try it and tell me - I didn't notice any such problem.
