Tell us more--

Ok so you got the mini version of the 8mm but there's no fisheye effect and it doesn't look very wide so you are using crop mode? Did you shoot raw or H.264? What ML features did you use? Post processing?

In any case, cool that you got that little camera working so well.

DeafEyeJedi

Stunning indeed but please spare us some more details in terms of ML settings as well as Post workflow and whatnot...

Nice work and thanks for sharing @joshfx!

Thanks dfort and DeafEyeJedi!  You're right, it was the 8mm EF-M lens (the small one).  I decided to shoot in crop mode for quality reasons.  Shot in MLV raw 1280x582 30fps, no audio.  I was very interested in a sustainable data rate since I wasn't sure how long my shots would have to be (e.g. whale watching, waiting for glacier calving).  Converted using MLV Mystic.  Color correction in ACR.  After Effects for fps interpretation to 23.976, time stretching, stabilization, and editing.

I'm definitely envious of other cameras that can shoot in higher resolutions, frame rates, and the quality of full frame sensors but I like the compact size of the M, especially when traveling.

Nice stuff. Is this the one you used?

Also be sure that you are using the latest supported converters such as MLVFS, Raw2cdng depending on what OS you're running but I'm assuming ur on Mac.

Also check out @Danne's cr2hdr-r which works well too.

Yes, that's the lens.  Highly recommended.  Manual focus.  The aperture ring has a nice click to it.  Focus ring is a little tight but I just set it to 1m anyway.

Thanks for the software recommendations.  I'm running OSX 10.7 on an old Mac Pro and I couldn't get some of these programs to work.  I'll give them another try, though.  My workflow is very tedious and could definitely could be improved.

I just realized you sent me the link to the Samyang equivalent.  Mine is Rokinon (below) but I'm sure it's the exact same lens.

Please update your Mac to at least 10.8 or no higher than 10.10 atm.

Currently running on 10.10 and all seems fine & dandy!
