Hi guys, I've been searching around for the ideal resolution to shoot ML with on a 5DMK2 but I cannot seem to find the 1.35 aspect ratio or even 1880x800 resolution, would anyone have any suggestion as to what I may have forgotten to do or need to turn on to achieve this? I'm using the current magiclantern-Nightly.2015Feb18.5D2212 build

@NKYCLDN , You need to use the Original .raw format and go back to a early build for 1880.
Read this post I wrote, it has the link to Oct /2013 .raw build before MLV came in to being.

In fact I still use this build from time to time on my 5D2.
Hope that helps  :D

Would you recommend I go back to this build or stay at the current?

The only advantage of the Oct 24th build from 2 years ago, is the 1880..

You will be missing out on 2 years of development.. Are 24 pixels worth it?
once you go raw you never go back

Yeah I kind of see the point, especially when those 24 pixels can be scaled.

It is recommended that horizontal resolutions at least be a multiple of 16 or perhaps even 32 IIRC. I think this has something to do with the EDMAC and perhaps the 14-bit packing. Anyway, that's the reason 1880 was removed.

Really ,Maybe for 5d3, 6D,7D But not for the 5D2 it peak for efficiency 18 mouths ago
Lets see , the Largest resolution you can Continuous record with the latest nightly build is 1856x928 (.mlv) (which is OK, don't get me wrong)(Audio & Metadata)
With .raw the Largest resolution you can Continuous record on the Oct 24/'13 is 1880x1016(.raw) Advancement ?(Better I think)(but no Audio or metadata)
Oh yea plus you have HDMI support to boot . ;)
I can list the pro's & con's of both formats.
The point being is it's Ok to use Both Formats , It all depend on your project needs So don't be afraid to try it out.
I personal use Both Formats , sometimes I just need large frame resolutions depending on the project. e.g. 1880x1058 or 2048x1024 for more then 2 seconds and .raw can do this.

That was part of the reasons, It was all about "portability" that's it The 5D2 is in it's own little world .
you can Read the explanation "link" -->http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5533.msg106668#msg106668
You see the 5D2 is the only camera that uses that resolution so in favor of making think portable cross all camera
it had to go.
We could have had 1888 coded in but there was not enough support by the developer's to add in the extra code.

Life goes on  :D
