I have removed my SD card, and also my battery a few times, but always waited 5 seconds and always made sure no led's were turned on.
But still somehow, it seems I ddi something wrong.
"Right after opening the card door, Canon firmware accesses the card without turning on the LED (yes, with the main switch turned off). If you remove the card too early, the camera will freeze and will drain the battery, or even cause permanent damage! You will be running random code (remember you are loading executable code from the card), and we can't do anything about it without reflashing Canon firmware with our own code. "
My battery gets drained when in the camera. So, is there a way to fix this? Or is my camera just "broken" now?
I hope not.
Thanks

Remove battery, remove card.
Insert battery only.
Now wait some time (overnight) and check battery state.

Do you have more than one battery? And there is no battery grip involved, I suppose.
