Hi folks,

I am new here and seen on the main page of ML that Canon 40D users could get this.  I have searched the forum and found some dead end answers, and not much help in the Q&A.  Last report was of last year(2013).
So, is the ML available for the EOS 40D?

Thanks in adavance

most of the info you can find here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=1452.msg128147#msg128147

resume, development was in early stages, and has stopped, because the lack of interest in the particular camera (it is VxWorks, not DryOS, not that many owners), it needs devoted and skilled developer to be pushed further. I also own 40D and would love to have at least basic functionality inside like Intervalometer, bulb timer and ETTR for time lapses.

Thank you for your reply.  The 40D seems still to be popular.  I am sure there is someone, someplace that know's how to code for it.  It seems all the basic program is there, just needs to be specific for this camera, just like all the rest.

I have the EOS recorder, but the frames suck, they go from 30 or so, then drop to 1.9 within 30 seconds.  Bummer, eh?  At any rate, I like the rest of the 40D owners, I am keeping my faith that ML will be available for us.

Till then,

sadly the 40D has fallen in the gap of CHDSK and ML, CHDSK goes up to 30D, ML starts from 50D. 40D is fine camera for its age, and is really good enough for most of time lapse staff, unless you go for night sky, or really high dynamic range shots. It is much faster to render time lapses form 12mp than form 18mp (of my 7D which is primary camera for me), so unless I really need the 7D to shoot time lapse, I'm doing it on 40D, till the shutter dies, and then depending on cost, but likely still would fix it. With battery grip and decent batteries, it runs like for ever, power hungry 7D can't keep up.

I don't consider 40D as video camera at all, unless raw, where in non low light situation it could really shine, because of less line skipping. Otherwise - nop, not that important, ETTR, and intervalometer - those are the features that I'm really interested in. And focus peeking / assist for my manual lenses...
