Multi-Card usage

First, I own a Canon EOS 5D MkIII. I installed ML mostly about the intervallometer. Everything seems to be fine. I got 2 questions:
1. What happens if I use a second CF-Card with no ML-Files installed? Will the Camera boot like without ML oder will there be a problem? Do I have to install ML on all my CF-Cards?
2. Is it possible to use a SD-Card with ML in the SD-Slot for booting and write all the files on the faster CF-Cards without ML installed?
