Full 720p or 1080 p/i Clean output for live on 60D (No black bars)

I couldn't find other post that fits this exactly so if it exist, first sorry an then pls point me to it.

I would like to know if it's possible to get a full video image on the HDMI, I mean one without the black pillar bars.

I'm thinking about the posibility of using 60Ds for live events, thus connecting them to a switcher like the BlackMagic ATEM ones and maybe using hdmi to sdi converters due to cable length restrictions.

It's not alway possible to rescale on some switchers so an image without black bars would be needed.

As a starter, a 720p would be enogh.
If possible, other HD "flavors" like 1080 (p or i) @ 24,25,29.97 or 30 would be better.

I know on a 60D you can not output HD while recording but can it output a full clean image like this if not recording?

Also, can specs be lowered to get 720p @ 24,25 or 30 (insted of double that) both at hdmi and recording at the same time?

I did a short video capture about hdmi out but on the 5D mark2
I think its basically the some, link below



you get a 1080i 29.97 YCbCr (422) 8Bit, Its limited to 1620x1080 (3:2)
so you have to reframe the shot.
I use a Atomos Ninja hdmi recorder for backup when i record raw on
all paid jobs. To Get the progressive signal out you have to do  reverse telecine (3-2 pulldown)
that will get a 23.976 stream from the 60i stream.

Edit: i also put the camera in Standby mode & record the live hdmi signal

As I understand this "max res" is because the camera outputs a 1920 x 1080 with two black pillar bars.

I want to know if it's posible to output a picture without the black bars, in any HD format (I mean 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 if possible).

Possibly it would involve cropping the image to 1620x910 and then reescaling to 1280 x 720 (or 1920 x 1080) in the camera, prior to the hdmi output.


Please correct me if I'm wrong but I am failing to see any useful part in your answer or your posted video for this case.
Am I missing something?
