I'm running ML 2.3 stable, 50D firmware 1.0.9.  The 50D has trouble with ML's overlays in Live View, so I'd like to turn off the Canon GUI.  According to the manual (July 23, 2012) there's a "Kill Canon GUI" option in the Display menu.  However, it doesn't show up.  I downloaded the source code and found that it depends on Global Draw, but I have Global Draw turned on.

Anybody know how to make "Kill Canon GUI" show up?

Try a newer version.

There is no newer version, except the bleeding-edge nightly builds.

If you mean "It's a known bug that's fixed in a newer version" then fine, I can wait for the next stable release.  But "Try the untested unstable risky development version" isn't a reasonable solution for the casual user.

You exaggerate...
Nightly builds, mainly,  are stable ;) I use them from 2 years and never had a problem with it.
Guys from dev team are doing great job!
