Hi

I just started using ML a few days ago on my 50D. The video seems to record at double speed when I play back on PC (qt AND VLC). I tried at both the resolutions offered on the camera. I know video on the 50D is listed as "unstable" with ML, but I have not found anyone else mentioning this problem with a 50D.

Could it just be a stability issue or there perhaps a setting I should look at?

Thanks.

Disable FPS override.

Stability issues are when your camera locks up or you get ERR70 or other similar things.

I never had any stability problems with my 50D and ML (both 2.3 and various nightlies) except a single unreproducable lockup when stopping recording. I'd say it's pretty stable, especially for a camera that's not even built to record video.
As for your problem: It's probably FPS override. Regularly, video is recorded at 30FPS, but when you record at 15fps, it's still played at 30FPS, effectively doubling the speed. Of course you can record and play with 15FPS, but that may look a bit choppy and doesn't make much sense. Recording in lower framerates is mostly useful if you want to work with something else than NTSC standard or for timelapse, when you actually need to speed up the video. For example, recording with 1FPS and playing with 30 makes 1h of real time into 2min of timelapse without having to use the intervalometer.

Thanks! It was FPS override. All fine now.
