Every single shot is beautiful!!!!! Especially the beach shots.

It's sad that the actual real music video was not shot on the 5d Mk3.  :(

Shooting arrows on horses? These people are REAL Dothrkaki  :D

Beautiful shots! Especially getting the Bald Eagle!

Did you use FPS override for the timelapse? OR the intervalvometer?

Were these shots shot in RAW? If so can you describe your post process?

Nice shots! You have a good eye!

What lenses/settings did you use? Did you edit in Davici or camera raw? My only critique would be the noise. Sometimes it was extremely noticeable. Always shoot at ISO100!   :D

The BMCC footage also seems to have a pretty strong green cast compared to the Canon

Has anyone had experience matching footage like this?
Is there a recommended workflow for this or just a matter of matching things manually?

I haven't ever used DaVinci resolve. I use Adobe After Effects with the Cinema DNG's from MLVApp to edit the RAW profiles with Adobe Camera RAW. Same with BMCC Cinema DNG's.

It's never straightforward to match the two color spaces though. It requires a lot of tweaking of levels and curves, but overall it should be fairly simple if you know a little about color correcting. I usually have to dial up the magenta/red on the ML canon footage.

My straight out of the camera footage is usually similar to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwB_zvZZSUg

It says that the video is unavailable.

Nice colors! She looks like Kim Kardashian haha.

All of the shots looked phenomenal! I wish it were a tad sharper, but this is inspiring

This is 100% believable to me haha. Good job. The choppy framerate and handheld sells it.

That was epic! Extremely low noise and high dynamic range!

It actually gave me chills watching.

Raw Video / Re: Inconsistent Framerates

After exporting as a ProRes proxy file via MLV App the frame rates are inconsistent / incorrect in most of the clips.

Can you give more details on the process? My 5D always give me the correct framerate.

What are you using to make the original "non-proxied" master footage? Are you using DNG's?

Are you exporting using Prores ffmpeg Kostya or ffmpeg Anatolyi codec? Is your framerate override on in MLVApp?

Is yes is there a way to force it to a consistent frame rate while it's recorded? Maybe just use frame rate override?
Maybe you should just try the framerate override in ML in-camera to see if that fixes the issue. Don't know if that will de-sync the sound though

That had to be extreme cold temps for the camera. I'm surprised that the 5D3's cold weather performance is so outstanding! I guess if you were shooting RAW then it heated the sensor up naturally or something haha.

Can you tell us about your astro-timelapse? How did you capture it with the auroras?

Were you recording raw 14bit or 12 bit or 10 bit? There is practically zero noise in any of your shots. That old airplane is def the coolest thing ever!

Hello ML community,

I would like to help out and take on the task of updating the RAW recording spreadsheet. There have been MAJOR advances in RAW recording and it's hard to figure out what is the new capabilities. I would like to make a central location for everything. I understand that there is a RawCalculator https://rawcalculator.netlify.com/calculator_desktop (which is awesome) but the spreadsheet helps out a lot with all of the colors and comments and stuff when trying to consider which camera to buy for MLV.

I want to add:

  • 14,12,10 bit recording modes and times for each camera
  • newer cameras that can raw record
  • max resolution updates
  • top/best/recommended CF/SD card

I mainly planned on using the raw calculator to get this info, but is there a better approach to retrieving all of this info?

Your dynamic range is incredible! Nice shots! I watch the entire thing because it was so relaxing. My favorite shots were the pandas!!

I want to know more about your setup. What CF card(s) do you use? Are you shooting 14bit raw or 12bit or 10bit?

This was awesome! Nice dynamic range. I love the sky replacement as well. It felt almost too natural  :)

Were you on a gimbal? How did you handle focusing?

Other experimental builds / 8-bit RAW ?

I know that this sounds crazy, but is 8bit RAW possible? Sorry if I sound like a noob.

The best feature of shooting RAW on my 5D2 is the aspect ratio control. I can use a lot more of the sensor than shooting in H.264 allows me to. Shooting in 3:2 and 4:3 allows me more creative control in shooting for instagram/facebook because of the larger vertical resolution these sites are intended for. It also helps when shooting anamorphic because of the 1.33x horizontal squeeze!

If 8-bit raw sounds too weird, then is there a possible way to control aspect ratio when recording in H.264?
