here's a few clips, 4k anamorphic, only changed aspect ratio to 16:9 and set 25fps, 1064x1800 resized to 4k, very "clean" videos only selected 3x3 smooth in mlvapp and it was ready to go, @Danne where's the aliasing now? :)
watch in 2k or 4k resolution

Nice clips!
4K anamorphic works nice. For people and plants it works great. However with buildings I sometimes get wobbling/aliasing on vertical lines.
Edit: the wobbling is due to the IS lens

If you set ratios to 16:9(crop mode sub menu) and 12bit in 4k anamorphic rewired mode it sets resolution to 1064x1800. Tested that?(Don´t forget to press canon menu and back when changing bitdepth by the way)

I've tested it with one of the latest builds. It worked fine, no pink frames.

Thanks Danne.

So sorry I didn't see this
I'll write the full list of info on here later for you

But there is a guy on YouTube called zeek
Just type "eos m zeek" and he has some seriously good videos on all this info
I'd be lost without his help also its extremely informative

Thanks. I am familiar with Zeek's videos. Mcmrewire still gives me too much aliasing/moire. Maybe it's the lenses I'm using (ef-m lenses) or something in the settings. But I have a feeling it's the lenses. When I shoot in moviecrop mode it's much better, but the crop factor..
#30
@berechiah Sounds good! Can you give your settings?
#31
I know.. again, I was responding to what 2blackbar wrote about using mv1080 (no mcm) and moviecrop together. This way you are not using the entire sensor.

@henricusmaria

Normal mv1080 has stretched LiveView, mv1080 with Move Crop mode rewire has correct real-time LiveView.

Consider using the latest build from Danne, some of previous build has Extreme Moire when using MCM rewire, in the newest ones the problem has been fixed.

I have the latest build. Mcm rewire still gives aliasing/moire. Using only Movie crop mode gives me cleaner footage. My question was if there is a difference between using just movie crop mode and (standard) mv1080 with movie crop mode.

Just test it and compare

I don't see a difference that is why I asked if you had a reason to use mv1080 with moviecrop. Maybe you had a reason..

Now i use rewire mode cause i had problems removing focus pixels, higher resolutions in anamorphic mode will give you lot less aliasing.
Mv1080 rewire gives me way too much aliasing. Is there a difference between just moviecrop mode and mv1080 with moviecrop mode?

I use mv1080p and then crop. This creates moire/aliasing free footage much more details than mov h264 and colours you never suspected this camera could capture.

What is the difference with using only movie crop mode (without mv1080p). Or do you use mcm rewire?
#36
Nice!

Does this also mean less aliasing and moiré?

Be sure to check out the x3zoom which gives a really nice tele resolution at 1x1 pixel ratio.

Does this x3 zoom turn mv1080p into moviecrop mode?
#38
Thanks, I'll be careful ;) What did you damage?
I saw a YouTube vid were a guy sawed of the plastic part of the ef-s 10–18 and was able to go all the way to 10mm on the viltrox speed booster. No touching of glass, according to him. Only lots of vignetting. I will let you know how it works when I receive mine.

@dfort  You can use Canon ef-s lenses + Viltrox when shooting in 5x zoom mode without any vignetting (since the resultant crop is 2.36x from 35mm full frame assuming you shoot at max res of 2520x1308), however at the wide end the rear lens element might hit the Viltrox glass - depending on which ef-s lens you use. First step is to remove the plastic part which protrudes from the back of the ef-s lens, either by sawing it off or using your fingers depending on lens. After this modification, you can fit the lens on the Viltrox: my ef-s 17-55mm and 10-18mm both hit the Viltrox glass at their widest setting (so you can't use the widest 2mm or so), but my ef-s 17-85mm doesn't.

Damn.. I just ordered the 10-18 ef-s and was about to order the speedbooster. I knew about the needed modification but didn't know the lens still would hit the viltrox glass at the widest setting. So what is the widest you can go? 13mm? What can be done about this?

My tests today show that the mv1080p mode is more detailed. With the mlvapp v1.5 I don't see much difference anymore in artifacts betweeen the two modes. But it could be the weather conditions. Lots of smog today which results in low contrast. Before I've noticed a fair amount of aliasing with the mv1080p mode in sunny conditions.
I'm asking because I don't know if it is the weather conditions or maybe the new mlvapp version that gives different results. And I was under the impression that the new 5k amamorphic mode would yield better results (Less aliasing and better image quality).
#41
Comparing these modes: Mv1080p vs 5k anamorphic

Apart from the difference in resolution, which mode has the best image quality? Which mode has the least artifacts?
#42
Thanks! I will have a look.
V1.5 might not be far away, but I need to find out this week if the 1x3 mode is reliable enough to shoot with.
#43
@masc I think you know what I mean ;)
How do you compile mlvapp?

@Danne I've already deleted the mlv files
#44
Managed to get 1x3 footage in 16:9 without corrupted frames. Only there is too much aliasing going on to my liking. Anything I can change in my ml settings or mlvapp that can help?

Pushed some fixes to 16:9 ratios setting when used with 1x3 binning. Couldn,t get any corruption but see if anyone else can:

Thanks Danne! Will do some tests today. Do you think changing the bit depth to 12 or 14 bit lossless and lowering the resolution will improve the image quality? Or is it better to film in 10 bit lossless with the highest resolution?

What happens if you create a 16:9 preset from regular raw video sub menu instead of using my ratios preset?

I haven't tried it with the latest built but I got a lot of corrupted frames before. I will try again tomorrow and report back.

I am not sure if it is neccessairy to reduce the resolution. I tried recording clips with many different settings today. The most safe one was the 4.5K 2.35:1 1x3 10bit preset. Selecting 16:9 there (-> smaller resolution) brought more corrupted frames - no idea why. But when speeking of "more corrupted frames" - this were 2 corrupted frames in 20 seconds, where the 2.35:1 preset had one or none.

Thanks. Will try that present tomorrow. I also had more corrupted frames when choosing 16:9. Although I'd rather film in 16:9 since my other footage is in that aspect ratio.
#48
Yes, will do. I have one more week of testing to go..
#49
I will let you know, when I find the time. I am actually looking for a preset that gives me clean/corrupt free footage. I am shooting a film in China and I want to use the eos m in some areas where it's a bit difficult (not allowed) to film. Right now I'm thinking of using the 2.5k preset since it's the cleanest. The mv1080 gives too much aliasing and moire. But it would be great to be able to shoot with a wider angle. The 1x3 preset looks promising!

Sounds good! Does it also work in other ratios like 16:9?
