@danne So i took 1x3 mode for a spin, but now i face kinda problem with processing, i used dual iso and would like to get 1704x72X output, but when i export it from MLVApp i get 5120x2184 files, i wasn't able to find any place where there is this setting, in MLVApp there's normaltransofrmation: Width 1.0x, Height 0.33x, in file metadata there's 1704x2184, so where the 3x1704X2184 comes from?
Other than that it works excellent and i think i'll have some nice shots once i solve export (right now, only think i can do, is to force resolution back down during export, but that seems as bad solution)

Is it just me, or build crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2019Jan10.EOSM202 is creating corrupted frames in 1x3 binning mode?

And this is probably stupid question, but instead of 3x3,1x3,3x1, would it be possible to use binning or line skipping 2x2...? Probably using some array operations, like readout whole sensor and then decrease it in size...not quite sure if limit is on processing side, or write speed size (or if it even possible to edit raw frame before saving it...but given how many "impossible" things have been already done...).

No corruption and length ~17 seconds shots, I only activated SD overclock, cropmode and set 10 bits in it.

Doesn't like overexposure and sudden changes in brightness, when light conditions don't change too much, it looks like it can be continuous (I have 21 second shot that I had to direct at light bulb in the end to make it stop [after several seconds]).

Btw does ML control over Image Stabilization in lens? I have IS activated in Canon menu, but in replay it says "no IS" (i use manual focus, but that shouldn't be a problem or is it?)
#29
It now switches off okay.

For some reason i'm getting longer times 650-800 frames but unfortunately each clip contains 3-5 corrupted frames, not consequent in different parts of clips.

Aaaand some more tests.
When not overclocked no corrupted frames.
Sound doesn't seem to cause problems.

Also i noticed it doesn't want to show dowm when button pressed (it stucks on "Sensor cleaning" and orange led on), needs two additional presses (one to start again asnd switch off)

With SD overclock and no sound it seems to prolong recording to some ~800 frames and no corruption
Sorry about first report, i  enabled sound module on autopilot.

Also, all these are low light situation no Sun here today.

I did some more tests
i'm getting ~250 frames without SD overclock (~35MB/s), ~ 550 with SD overclock (~44MB/s)
in second set corruption appeared only in shots with SD overclock (3 ouf of 550). Frame out of order didn't appear again.
As for global draw it's on, but i'm using canon liveview, does it count?
Disabled sound, like not loaded mlv_sound module?
#32
I captured about 1500 frames and 2 of them are corrupt - lower half pink and shifted sideways.
Also, longest shot was slightly above 11 seconds, it stopped after on screen message saying something about  "incorrect frame order".
I'll test some more.

4K build works.
Is there some special way how to process it? When I use MLVAPP with default settings (3x vertical clearly works) i'm getting a lot of color artifacts (crop 100 %):

Also there seems to be an issue with exposure time, when i go to ~1/100 and faster, 5x zoom view starts flashing and framing view splits into several black and part of screen bands.

Wicked :) and kinda unbelievable what can be done...

Cool loknar. I have been filming with 3K 19fps and 9bit for continuous action on my latest eosm builds. Feel free to test that out as well. Maybe one can get away with 19fps  :P

Thanks, but given it's thanks to you and other lanterners :)...

Make it 20fps and we'll have a deal  8) ...just kidding

I'll try it, but weather will suck for the time being, so no outdoor shots.
#36
So i took crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2018Dec21 build for a spin.

Quality is wonderful.

Quick test
(frames)
LV on/LV Off
12-bit 43/64
10-bit  59/85
9-bit  67/100
All usable.

But card used to be a bit faster, maybe i'll try low level format.

For usabilty sake I added a 2.35:1 preset from within the crop_rec submenu. It will apply to the first four presets in crop_rec menu. Mainly I do this roundtrip because setting the 2.35:1 from regular RAW video menu will crop differently with mv1080p mode.

You are like daily Santa Claus :)

3K with 2.35 aspect works. I'm getting  ~2 seconds with liveview, ~4 seconds without it (card write speed is 58 MB/s with SD overclock).
This mode is my new favourite :).

mv1080@45 fps works too, longer shots than I am willing to wait, I almost hear DualISO in mv1080  knocking.

Well, it is in our best interest to provide you with as much information as possible :).
Yeah,  that 8-bit info was pretty much only FYI. I don't intend to use it, 10-bit seem optimal, 9-bit out of desperation :).
I have framing preview now, thanks. I helps to know it can be done, after that it's only trying of possible combinations :).

Thanks Danne for the builds. I tried the one from December the 8th and 1x3 preset works very well (even with changed bit rate, 8 bit have shifted white/black level, but others work out of the box), preview is stretched(not a big deal) but is very fluent and also i'm able to shoot very quickly.
Also this is first build with which i successfuly recorded 3072x1304 clip and man, that's beautiful. In this preset though i've no working preview at all (all just rgb patterns) so i can't focus or check composition, is it "standard" or it's just me?

@theBilalFakhouri
I tried your build before, 2.5K went fine, but i had problems with 3K, so i've waited "when the dust settles" because i didn't know, whether problem was with build or me using it incorrectly, or on top of incompatible build.

In Danne's build frame override unfortunately produces corrupted videos, so i can adjust (=lower) resolution to get continuous 20.5 fps or 12 fps, or 9.5 fps as defaults in 2.5K, 3K and 4K.

So as far as i'm concerned, live view in 3K and 4K would be nice and functional FPS override would push this micro beast  into (yet another) higher class :).
(these are the only things that don't work right now)
Since i'm most into landscapes 3K+ (because of crop factor) in 2.35:1 and 15/16fps continuous would be ultimate feat :).
It's unbelievable how much you guys can get from these cameras :).

@loknar
Are you in x5 zoom mode while recording?
I put up a new version which lower resolution a little to keep corruption away:
https://bitbucket.org/Dannephoto/magic-lantern/downloads/magiclantern-Nightly.2018Jul01.EOSM202_2K-3K-4K.zip

Yes, in 5x zoom, didn't even try it elsewhere.

You can work magic! :)
Now, 2.5K works (also changing raw resolution in menu is smooth, before it reacted sloppy and with delay, and also each and every resolution step works, no corruption).
3K works (liveview garbled, but as i understood that's a feature for now)
4K works (liveview garbled, but as i understood that's a feature for now)
Also I didn't have any errors whatsoever, so this build works like a charm with my EOS M.

Would it be possible to tailor some high res mode to exactly 15 or 16 fps? It would allow continuous recording at ~65 MB/s and also it could be interpolated by whole number to get "normal" fps (15->30, 16->48). FPS override produces corrupted shots, but i think this is not supposed to work right now(or perhaps at all)?

Added croprec goodies to the eosm:
https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19300.msg203377#msg203377

Thanks for the build, unfortunately it mostly doesn't work for me. I am able to get some shots in 2.5K 16:9, although several frames are corrupted. But i can't get consistent results in 3K, either it won't even start with on screen message "Raw detect error" or it ends almost immediately and when try to play the file it says something about file ending prematurely, or it seems to records garbled live view, or in some cases i can get around 30 frames uncorrupted, but cannot use fps override to get longer shots as it fails immediately. Are you getting better results? I understand highly experimental nature of this, i'm just curious if i'm doing something wrong. (Global draw off, SD overclocked and raw setting are only options i'm using)

Garbled 3K frame

QuoteThis dng looking corrupted --> on 700D only the last few frames before the recording stops it's sometimes shows corrupted frames it's depending in scene, iso and whatever --> But we are here to fix all that problems  :D

You are right, frames at the end are garbled (test image was just random pick from the middle).

Also camera reacts kind of sloppy, so maybe there really is more load than CPU can handle.

@theBilalFakhouri
Just for comparison my ATDG.LOG  (As expected it's nearly same as @Danne's)
http://txt.do/dpiz0
I tried your new atdg_gui module:
1-2520x1384 ~16:9 @ 23.976
So cool! :) It's almost there, black bar is gone, there is 1 red line and 7 white lines at the bottom. (Don't mind right side, that's window frame that's really there)

If that's caused by my processing, here is also pristine raw file.

Hi, I tried newest build and lower part of image is still missing, although in my case there are two color lines and the rest is black. Also in 3K LiveView is garbled (not complaining, just FYI). And thanks for howto video :).

I've been curious, what maximum framerate did you achieve with EOS M?
I didn't managed to get past 45 fps, and I'd like to shoot some DualISO 2x24fps video, any tips?

Also can anyone recommend anamorfic lens that are suitable (and not too expensive) for EOS M?

Looks like the EOSM is getting some favorable press thanks to Magic Lantern.

Yeah, I've got like 50 times more traffic on my YT videos with SD UHS hack :o).
#49
It the same thing as before: 10-bit raw video, first shot OK, following shaking, until taking battery out:
https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13111.msg197019#msg197019
So 1.09 or 1.10, this stays the same.

Thanks, but i didn't wrote any part of ML, i'm just a user. All credit belongs to developers :).

I put it on hold. It seems everything is working, apart from issue you mentioned and since during video it still shake every other frame (novelty might be that it shakes in different directions :) ), I'm not currently using it.
Also I've received parts for my future EOS M gimbal so I'm working on that.
